Default Is it safe to give out bank details to receive money?

Just sold some wheels on Ebay for £431. A friend of the buyer placed the bids because she hasn't got an ebay account. She's asked if she can pay the money directly into my account. Is it safe for me to give her my account number and sort code in order to receive payment for the wheels?

thanks

That is the way it is done, here and in mainland Europe in general, I have done bank transfers for most of the stuff I have bought from ebay or online. It is is only the Brits that are against this simple and painless way of doing transfers due to a country full of dodgy prats that want to rip you off. Personally I do not believe England is half as bad as it is made out to be on here.

ask them to pay you to your IBAN number if you are uneasy about letting them do a bank transfer to your account.

I can order stuff online and from the comfort of my own desk or living room using online banking I pay for stuff, no need to go to the bank or post office.

Not your problem - but she is taking a risk paying you this way. I learnt this the hard way.

And I know you still post on here Kevin - hope you are well.

i've had payments made to myself via this way.. from home and abroad.
your IBAN number should be on one of your bank statements somewhere!
