Question Best time to buy from a main dealer

In the market for a Mondeo ST TDCI, (to replace wife's Focus), just wondered if anyone had any inside info on the periods when salesmen are really keen to cut a deal, month end ? just before or just after the new regs come out.
Looking to get and 05/55 plate Mondeo and trade in my 2000 (X) focus, no great rush, so can wait until mid September if I have to.

Might be an obvious question but it's been about 3 years since I purchased a car and the second hand market seems to have altered since then.

Thanks

Ian

You'll always get a stronger deal with no px... get shot of the Focus first. Go in with the readies, and watch the greedy gits dribble!!

In all seriousnes, I always that as you've said - end of month etc. Certainly worked with my 2nd Scoob.

Mid-June to mid-July. As stated quotas and clearing out MY's and plate changes.
Motorpoint have ST TDCi's from £11995, or Brand new from Estates £14995.

Question

So which is the best month ? August ? (will they hit their numbers with people getting 56 reg') or September ? (having sold the initial rush), or should I aim for July ? with people waiting for the new reg' and thus not buying then.

I just did exactly what you are wanting to do Audiman in acquiring an ST TDCi. As stilover says it seems now is the time as they are all selling off motors that they bought under quotas. They speciffically told me that they were doing this.

I paid less than £16,000 for a brand new car with delivery mileage from a main Ford dealer in the north of Scotland (traditonally more expensive than England). The list price for this car is £23500. I also got a half decent price for the Subaru unlike with Motorpoint.

Also bear in mind that an all new Mondeo is meant to be due out which will affect the prices as well.

I noticed Benfield were also doing good deals on new cars. Seemed the dealer up here had a couple more in as well so may be worth phoning about.

Ian,

Only had it a couple of days so not in a position to give much of a view. Is obviously a completely different car to the Scooby but I have been impressed with the handling and seems well put together. Brakes seem a bit soggy at times but maybe they are still bedding in. Sony sound system is superb but then I'm used to the rubbish in the Scooby!

Not finished a full tank yet but onboard computer says I am getting 38mpg which is not bad considering I have been soley on the windy roads up here trying it out and getting used to it

Got the car from Arnold Clark but they dont seem to list all the cars they have on their site as mine was never listed and another two that they have aren't listed either. Not sure what prices they have on them either but could check if you are interested.
