Question

Anyone got one? Are they any good?

It's just that PC World (and Psion) seem to be selling them for GBP99, which is a THIRD of the original price!!!!!!

Even if Psion are stopping making 'em, digital broadcasts will continue - so it could be a good buy/investement.

Cool

Boomer,
there's been some discussion over on the Tivo Community (www.tivocommunity.com General UK chat area) about these. They seem quite impressed, but don't use the Psion software, use DABbar, www.dabbar.co.uk which is apparently a lot more compact. It's probably worth getting a proper aerial too, but I have recently replaced the supplied T-piece on my Videologic unit with a connection to my TV aerial to great effect.
Martin.

Well i did the deed, and bought said gadget at GBP99 (instead of GBP299). It is a well made and packaged bit of kit, and i am currently listening to Radio 1 - text caption "---- Dave Pearce ---- dave.pearce@bbc.co.uk ---------- 08700 100 100 ---------- http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1 ---------"

However, first impressions are that Psion are not very good Windows programmers as the supplied software is not intuitive or fast. Maybe i will try the DABbar stuff (thanks MDB) For some reason, despite finding four multiplexes or groups of stations, it seems to stick forever on trying to tune, despite the fact that it is deffo locked in and playing!

The actual antenna looks cool, apart from the fact that the plastic on the "glowing bit" is as soft as ****e, and thus scratched the moment that it fell from it's temporary position to test reception.

Seems to suck CPU n'all, as my old 450MHz PII is decidedly slower when the radio is playing.

Final verdict - i think that i will keep it

Just downloaded v1.4 of the Wavefinder (Psion) software. Seems a bit better, but not up to the Epoc32 standard

Boomer,

Very interested in this myself, especially as last time I looked it was £289.

Do you actually get track names appearing everytime a new track comes on the radio ? I would kill for that

Cheers

Ian

The text depends on the station. Some of them have been playing the same track constantly fot the last 4 months . The bigger stations seem to have usefull information, track info, DJ info, contact details etc.
