Aga companion (module) cookers???
Has anyone got an AGA companion stand alone cooker in there kitchen? Our cooker has given up the 3rd time in three years and as easy as it is to change the element in the fan oven, I can't find a replacement for the grill/top oven.
I would love a full AGA range but don't really have the space(our cooker is in an island style unit and so can not vent an oil, solid fuel or gas version and the electric one needs to be placed against an outside wall) and they are a bit expensive.
I see the AGA companion as a good comprimise, but how do people rate them? I would like the duel fuel version (gas hob/electric ovens)
Also are there any websites with prices on them? Most seam to say you have to send for a brochure, would just like a ball park figure...

Just ordered a 2 oven Aga plus gas module (the fitted version of the companion)
Aga do not list prices on their website, but ring your nearest dealer is the quickest.
Aga control prices rigidly, but with a bit of haggling the maximum discount is 6%

I did google before I asked on here, It is rather frustrating.
I went to look in comet on Sunday to see what else is on offer and the range of prices, and in the dual fuel section they have about 5 cookers, and they all looked horrid or felt really cheap and poorly made, even the £1000 SMEG one. Guessing AGA maybe the only option...
I will try and get upto the AGA shop in Sunninghill at lunchtime...

Unless things have changed since mum had her AGA fitted about 5 years ago (I think it was, could be more, can't really remember), you don't need to have electric ones on an outside wall, as ours certainly isn't, it's just to do with the flue (or whatever it's called) having somewhere to vent, which in our case involves going along the back wall of our utility room to outside.

The non electric Agas have to have a burner flue vent. Whilst this doesn't have to be on an outside wall (ours will be built into an inglenook on an internal wall) it does have to have a flue or chimney (the gas ones can run on a balanced flue through the wall).
The electric Agas vent the ovens through a 28mm copper tube which can be up to 6 metres long so don't have to be on an outside wall, provided the vent pipe as above can run to the outside wall.
All the relevant tech specs and requirements are on www.aga-web.co.uk

Cheers Dave...
Went to the local AGA shop last night to pick up a price list :OMG: :yikes: HOW MUCH!!! I knew the "proper" AGA's were several thousand, but for the 600mm wide double oven and gas hob it is £2750, and looking at it the ovens look a bit on the small size!!!
Has anyone got any recomendations of a good Duel fuel double oven 600mm cooker which will last a decent amount of time and cost about 1/2 the pirce of the AGA one?
P.S I quite like the styling of the AGA, so something that looks similarwould be nice!

There's not much that looks like an Aga and is cheap, it's the cast iron construction makes it a problem pricewise. The one we have ordered is £8500 with the 6% discount
If you go for a stainless range type cooker, steer clear of the cheaper stuff - Belling, Rangemaster, Stoves etc. They are not much cop, and you get what you pay for.
If you want the Rolls Royce of range cookers, look here http://www.lacanche.co.uk/pages/givry.htm
Lacanche are really the biz. I was going to get one but decided to go for the Aga with gas module as a good compromise. A mate that is a real foodie and good chef has got one and it is a serious tool
