I'm after a 3 or 4 drawer filing cabinet, anyone know of anywhere that sells surplus office furniture second hand in or around Herts, or has a filing cabinet I can buy?

Your best bet Steve (if its not too far away) is to get to Peacocks auction in Bedford, viewing is on Friday auction starts at 11am sat morning. They have office furniture, desks, seats, cabs every week without fail. I always go there because alot of these so called office surplus places charge an arm and leg for stuff IMHO.

Cheers that's useful and not too far. They do tend to be near enough new prices, the stuff isn't cheap.

Yes an example I kitted out my last office with two large L shaped desks, I think they 1500mm x 800 something like that, both with a 3 drawer pedestal for £75 each, easily be 400-500 new.
