Default Which Lawnmower?

Hello

It's been about 15 years since I've had to buy a lawnmower, does anyone have any recommendations for around £100?

Mine has just died and now I have a small-ish garden I sold the much-more-fun ride-on tractor last year.

Thanks,

Steve

Ah.. oops. Thanks for that. I didn't think anyone WAS as boring and useless as me to ask for advice on a lawnmower.

Impressive...your own work Sara? Should have made a post in "projects" titled hybird lawnmower

Bubba, grinder (only lightly though, unless it been badly mangled) to re-gain a straight edge of about 45 degrees, then finish with a very fine file in one direction, perpendicular and from the top to the edge to the blade.

If you want to cut fingers, finish it off some with 500grit paper

B+Q are doing petrol one for £99, self propelled too. Just wondering why its so cheap?

BTW anyone know where I can get a cheap petrol strimmer? I looked in B+Q but couldn't find any. Needs to be affordable!

Hello

Not just B&Q, Focus as well:

And £69.99 seems to be the cheapest petrol strimmer: http://www.focusdiy.co.uk/invt/56271

I'd go for a decent second hand one if I was you. Generally speaking, the more blades the better (four is a good number) and if you get a roller with clutch etc, the more to the good. There will be plenty of lawn mower engineers in your area who not only service them but also sell second hand jobbies.

Cheers, just found some cordless strimmers This Bosch looks the part but I wonder how long they last between charges, 1.5 AmpHours means nothing if you don't know how many amps it uses!

I brought one of those, save your money. Unless you've got a very small garden you'll be better off with a petrol/plug in one.

They take forever to charge aswell. Infact where's my reciept, I'm gonna take my one back tomorrow.

I had a funny ten minutes yesterday watching my new neighbours trying to mow their grass with the petrol lawnmower left behind by the previous owners. The lady of the house was really struggling trying to mow six-inch-long grass, her husband and friends were offering advice while swilling beer as it conked out every thirty seconds. I wonder how long it will be before they realise that they have to empty the grass box every so often.
