Default RAF flypast for Beckhams party!!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5000032.stm

Apparently a WW2 flypast is going to make a de-tour and go over Beckhams house when hes holding his pre-world cup party!!

Thats what I call a party!!! Theyve got Robbie Williams playing live, RAF spitfire, lancaster and hurricane flypast!!! Pretty impressive!

Two tickets for the party were auctioned off and fetched £100k+... hmm, I wonder if they got bought by the press

More info

A bidder has won a pair of tickets to the Beckhams' World Cup party after offering more than £100,000 in an online charity auction.

The offer of £103,100 came in four days before the closing time for the sale in aid of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

But nobody beat the bid and the unnamed buyer now has the chance to join stars for the glittering bash at David and Victoria Beckham's Hertfordshire mansion on Sunday.

The England captain and his pop star wife are throwing the Full Length and Fabulous Ball as a send-off for the England team.

The tickets have been the star lot in the NSPCC's Dream Auction, but new items including a Mercedes car donated by the Rolling Stones were announced for the next round of sales.

An auction spokeswoman said the sleek black interior of the car had sun visors signed by each member of the band.

Another new lot in the auction is a chance to spend a day on the set of the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale.

In all there are 1,000 lots up for grabs, with all proceeds going to the children's charity. The NSPCC hopes to raise £10million from the sale.

The online auction is taking place on www.dreamauctionfullstop.com and was launched with a celebrity gala at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney are on the charity's organising committee and have persuaded many of their famous friends to donate lots.

I live round that way and we had someone buzzing the golf course in a P51 Mustang last weekend. Not sure which variant, but from the howling I'd say it was definitely supercharged. Did some wingovers, rolls, etc. Well cool.

What an opportunity... A few hundred pound bombs should do the trick

BTW no disrespect to the NSPCC, I do donate monthly, honest. Just Beckhams and Robbie 'the most important person in the world' williams in the same place at the same time - priceless....

These charity auctions really **** me off. Aside from the fact that it's an invitation to the reception (19:30-21:00) not the party, ordinary people are rapidly priced out of the market. So the only people who can afford to go are the sort of people who'd be invited anyway.

I mean, I can understand a Beckham fan paying a couple of grand to go, but £100k?

they had to undergo a police check on their background, they had to sign a confidentialty agreement stating they were not a member of the press and they would not write or sell their story to the press!!

It's helping raise money for one of the most worth while charities there is imho.
So what iof the tickets are bought for serious money by someone with more money than sense and who cares about their motives. Better this cash goes to this cause than stays in someones account earning interest.

With this sort of event It is not about who is the biggest fan, it is about seperating rich and famous people from their cash for a good cause.
Maybe Mr and Mrs smith from arcacia ave would like to go but have 2k to give, do you think that the charity would rather receive 2k or 100k for mr & Mrs rich as you like.

It is all about making the most money for charity

Good on 'em!

Godd on 'em!
Oh we can't disagree with the charitable cause, however it would have been more amusing had the tickets been given to some thoroughly vulgar and common individuals so that the guests of the party could be reminded where the majority of them have come from.

Everything is about charidddy these days didn't you know? Seems charity is used as an excuse to justify having a good old excessive knees up, oh and lets throw a few coppers in the bowl of a charity that sounds good for the newspapers.

Think this party is a very bad idea and it could come back to haunt them if they fail miserably at the world cup. Things like this are best left til the thing is won.

It is a shame that the NSPCC has to rely on charity hand outs!

However - How can any money raised for this charity be anything that a great idea. It can only help those who need it.

So what if they (the England team) fail miserably. I sincerely hope they do not but at least it will have raised cash for a good cause.

I fail to see how this can be a bad idea on any level.

Oh how the Brits like to do each other down!

I think you will find that they do not need anymore invited that there already is - however if they put their hand oin thier pockets then good on 'em i say

If it matters to you where and who gives thre money then have a good look around the NSPCC site, the kids on thee do not care much about who gave and with good reason.

So do anything you want as long as some money is raised for charridddyy? Raising money for a worthwhile cause will be the last thing on the minds of 99% of the attendees who will be too busy quaffing Cristal and Don Perignon.

Introducing some cash for the NSPCC is just a sop to their PR agents so the Beckhams can push their egos into overdrive in relative peace of mind that they won't be derided in the press. Celebrations and parties should be held after the event not before. Sooner Beckham is fcuked out of the team the better.

Hmm, joined today eh, i wonder if another user hiding behind a new id, actually i do not wonder or care that much

All to often SN'ers seem to see the bad in everything. who cares who goes and for what reason. Imho the important thing is not to loose sight of the fact that money is raised for a good cause.

So what if a party is held before they go, is it a big deal, really is it?

Actually who cares, 'nuff said by me on this subject i have more interesting things to do than go on about this

Even if you used a spell-checker, the mistakes you make wouldn't be corrected.

You may not be 'bovvvered' to learn your own language, which says to me that you're either an idiot or lazy, possibly both Either way, it detracts from whatever point you may be making.

Yes, just read that too:

David and Victoria Beckham did not request a fly-past by World War II aircraft during a pre-World Cup party at their home, a spokesman insists.
But a spokesman for the England captain and his wife told the BBC News website: "It was never going to happen."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5002510.stm
..

To be fair, given the over-sensitivity about not mentioning the war, it did seem a bit dodgy.

The show-off, look-at-me, aren't-we-something-special mentality of these "stars" sickens me to my very core!!!

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got 4 gold wheels, an exhaust I can stick my head up, and an unfeasibly large spoiler to clean.

It was reported that the Battle of Britain aircraft flypast was cancelled by the Beckhams because they suddenly thought that the Germans might be offended by it because of the connection to the 2nd World War where they got well and truly thumped!

Now I have heard it all!

I suggest that the whole stunt was a PR thing by both parties to raise the profile of both events. There was probably no intention at all for a flypast, but look how much press both sides have achieved from it all.

Its all a load of b0llox isn't it really...

If they were all that bothered they'd ditch the £200 a bottle cristal, sub it for tesco's own brand and give the savings to the NSPCC!
