I would think you are likely to remember doing 77 in a 30 if you had done it.
What exactly do you have? I assume that in fact you've been sent a Notice of Intended Prosecution which asks you to name the person driving at the time? In this case you haven't actually been fined yet. My concern would be that 77 in a 30 would be rather more than just a fine and has the potential to attract other charges up to (very rarely) dangerous driving.
With this in mind you need to be VERY careful with this one and I would suggest that you consider employing the services of a solicitor who specialises in motoring offences. This will be expensive but when you consider the potential outcomes of 77 in a 30 it may save you money in the long term.
The other option is to get over to www.pepipoo.com and conduct your own defence but in your circumstances I still believe professional representation is probably the route to take.
Also, take great care and say NOTHING at all to the police or partnership until you have taken advice. Don't write to them and don't return anything at all until you are very sure of the direction in which you are going.

This will be a nice meeting with magistrates. Beyond points and a fine IMHO. You're talking nearly 50 mph over a speed limit in possibly a built up area. I'd say a lengthy ban (6 months) and a hefty fine if you're lucky. Pack a toothbrush.

A lot would depend on previous motoring convictions etc. One plus point for me getting done for 100 mph on the A1 was no previous convictions, so got a relatively light fine of 100 quid and 6 points.
