Default British Grand Prix

Right i've always wanted to go to the british grand prix and am thinking about it this year, since the tickets are so expensive i'll probably only get the general admission ones, does anyone know if you can get a decent view in the general viewing area or is it worth the extra to get grandstand seats, also is there anywhere to park within walking distance of the circuit so i could avoid the traffic/costs/hassle of parking in the circuit car park?

Every peice of spare space within walking distance is turned into a car park . traffic is bad but nowhere near as bad as it used to be now they have built the new road. Realistically the view is crap if you are not in the grandstand but some grandstands are rubbish.

If you do go for just a general admission then it would be very important to get there as the gates open take some chairs and go directly to a good position and hold onto it, if there’s two of you just take it in turns to have a walk about and fetch the all important beer and chips

I agree, get there as soon as it opens and sit there all day. Silverstone is the pits for a spectator though, really bad.

As it clashes with the world cup, they are not predicting a sell out crowd.

You may be able to pick up some cheaper tickets on ebay.

Go to the French Grand Prix - it doesn't work out that much more expensive, the weather's better and you get to fill up you boot with cheap booze on the way back!

Echoing SJ, and based on what I've heard from several people I used to work with who've done it (both bikes & F1), try a continental GP instead you're more likely to get good weather, and less likely to get ripped off!

Took me just short of 2 hours to get out of the car park last year. That was on the West side of the circuit. Ruined the day somewhat, which is a shame.

Don't think I'll ever go back as it's just not worth it IMO.

Monaco however, that was fantastic. Fit birds everywhere (and a bit of car racing)

At Magny Cours last year there was a guy in a 4x4 that decided against queueing to get out of the car park and drove through a fence straight onto the exit road! cue 100 other drivers spinning round and making a beeline for the hole in the fence (just like the wacky races) only for gendarme to step into the gap and turn us all around back into the queue

I would advise against Spa though - far too iffy on the weather.

If you do go after all that advice, take something suitable to stand on, such as an orange box if you can find one.
