Cool DVD movies on my P910i

Found some excellent software that will convert any DVD to run on pretty much any Sony Ericsson - excellent.

A 1gb card can hold 8 DVDs

Just thought I would share that in case anyone didn't know about it

http://shop.my-symbian.com/PlatformP...oductId=138234

I believe it can do if for PSP as well

'PocketDivx Encoder' is excellent and free too. I compressed a Wallace & Gromit 20 minutes short film down to 70MB: and the quality was sufficient to stand being played full-screen on a desktop TFT display (native res. 320x240 to suit a PDA).

Cool.

Will it play on a Sony Ericsson or do you need a different player. Phone is Symbian the player likes .MP4 or .3GP files.

Looks to be quite useful... I have just downloaded the trial version

I have smartmovie http://www.lonelycatgames.com/index....ter=smartmovie latest update version 3.11 is much more stable on my 'P905' - don't seem to need to close apps down first before running movies - you probably didn't get that problem anyway with the P910

Cheers

I looked at Smartmovie as well and it looks good - can you convert DVDs with it?

Don't most PDAs run mini-Windows making it easier to get compatability than with the P900 series?

Smartmovie will not convert direct from DVD you have to rip the DVD first and then convert the VOB files to AVI or MPG.

There is a PC bit which will convert the AVI or MPG file to smartphone friendly format - you can crop to 320x208 pixels if you want also reduce fps by 1/2 big choice of encoding codecs, and change sound to mono from stereo etc...

Have you seen esato forum - quite a few links on there to stuff already done.

Thanks for that - sorry to be naive - what can I use to rip DVDs?

I also have some .mov files that the software I have cannot read - they play fine in Quicktime?

Cheers,

Rannoch

Hmmm... I was going to suggest DVD Decrypter - but it appears that they have been 'aquired' and it is now illegal to 'give away' - some other tools here... http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi..._decrypter.cfm

Hope you find something that works for you...

You then need something to change the VOB files into mpg or avi I have used DVDx 2.2, a mate uses Gordian Knot - do a search or P2P request

Don't know if they are tightening up on these too...

Cheers

Mick
