Right, this is the problem.

We were asked to buy two huge joints of pork for the in-laws on Thursday, which I put on to the back seat of the Scoob.

On the journey to the in-laws, one of the vacuum-packed wrappers split, allowing all of the raw juices to soak into the back seat

I've shampooed it straight away, and then again this morning because when I went to get in the car it smelt like something had died...

Can anyone recommend/advise how I can get rid of the smell of festering pork????????????

do you know of any car valeters in the Maidenhead/High Wycombe area that can steam clean the upholstery?

I can't keep driving with all four windows down and my head out of the window

Maybe just as well to hire a steam cleaner, and clean the seats yourself, a few times. I've got one, but don't live anywhere near you, sorry

The smell is undescribable!! I think I'm going to travel by bus for the next few days..

You think that's bad - Mrs C772's mum once had some lamb casserole spill in the boot of her old Nova!

Isn't Gossy in the High Wycombe area - he certainly used to valet cars, don't know if he still does.

If all else fails, take out the back seat and burn it!

I used 1/2 a bottle of fabreze - it disguised the whiff for about 1 minute - long enough for me to drive up the road and get stuck in traffic so I couldnt even get the air to circulate

Spent this morning washing the back seat of the car, and then trying to dry it with towels and a hair dryer.

Seemed to work, until I used the car this evening... I'm sure something has crawled into the car and died


Back seat is coming out tomorrow, and its going to be subjected to every washing product I can find... if *that* fails, a new seat is being purchased

I took some stuff to the rubbish tip once and a bag split, all over the back seat and the boot liner. The smell was horrible. It was 2 week old garden rubbish, moldy grass cuttings, plants, your name it.

I spent a whole day with buckets of warm soapy water. After about 6 hours the water was running clear and then took 2 days for it to dry.

I don't think buying a new seat is the answer, it will come out, as others have suggested, maybe you need a car vacumm\shampooer??.

Was very easy to remove. It was only bottom half of back seat. Scrubbed with all manner of washing detergents, rinsed thoroughly and orange essential oil applied liberally.

Seat was hanging off washing line for most of day, but has now been wedged into the airing cupboard to dry off...

very faint rancid piggy smell permeating atm, but I will air it outside again tomorrow if weather is good, and will empty copious bottles of orange stuff onto it again...

To get rid of the smell of festering pork you need to curl one out on the seat and leave it overnight before removing.
