Default Any chemical engineers about?

Thinking of doing a degree there of in.

Is the course as interesting as it sounds and how absolute fikkin hard was it?

Course is hard work - need strong maths, chemistry and physics. If you want to go into oil and gas then some sort of petroleum engineering postgrad would also serve well. Pay in Oil & Gas is generally better - see here http://www.tcetoday.com/tce/mainframe.htm and look at salary survey link which will give you an idea of rates for various sectors and levels of qualification.

I did a chemistry degree a few years back, when "O" Levels existed and getting an A was fookin' hard work. Back then, chemsitry had a very high drop out rate, but these days, as long as you turn up to most of the lectures you'll get a first.

Having done 2 degrees with a 12 year gap between them, I'm stunned at how much easier they have got.
