Help!! I think Im starting to get a beer-gut!!
Ive been suspecting it for some time, but have been unwilling to face up to the truth, but now I have to admit it - I think the early signs of beer-gut are here!!
What can I do to reverse its progress?
Are sit-up's a good plan? Or 'crunches'?? whatever they are?
Any tips?

Beer Gut, clue is in the name !
I can lose weight dead easily when working (off at the mo, so not so easy) , just take what food you need for the day, fruit, soup and porridge for breakfast, no crisps, biscuits and no boozing at night, if you plan your eating there is no need to go hungry, just needs a bit of forward thing, my downfall is to starve until I am so ravenous I need food before I collapse, thats when a takeaway seems a good option or at the least a bag of crisps and a choccy bar from the petrol station. I tend to find that if I eat good stuff I dont get hungry anyway but if I eat crap it is initially satisfying and then I am starving again an hour later.
Get some Porridge, its the wonder food (if you like it), it is creamy and filling yet is good for you, as long as you dont load it with cream and sugar, as a snack I get unsalted nuts and fruit, KP also do unsalted roasted Cashews and Peanuts, not that low in calories (170 per bag) but taste nice and are healthier than crisps, plus you feel like you are eating pub snacks.

Sounds like a change of diet could be in order then. During the day I do fill up on Coke, crisps and junk like that due to the work canteen being crap and only catering for junk-food addicts!
Is it worth coupling an improved diet with sit-ups or 'crunches' to target the tummy area specifically?!!
And yes Im mid-20's, so I guess it is sort of to be expected, but Im not liking it!!

Where you're younger, you can eat what you like drink what you like and still climb into your 26 inch waist trousers and zip them closed, then you reach that age, 24, 25, your mussels give up, they wave a little white flag and without any warning at all you're suddenly a FAT B'stard

Re crunches/sit-ups, you can't spot reduce fat so whilst you may have a washboard stomach, you'll still have a load of dirty washing on top of it.
All sensible advice above - exercise more, eat and drink less and voila!
Cheers

Don't worry it should eventually reach a stedy state and stop getting bigger. The size it finally finishes at is related to how much junk you eat, how much booze you drink and what exercise you do.

I decided it was time for me to start dieting again as I’d managed to go from 13.5 to 14.5 stone in the last couple of years.
By going to the gym for an hour 5 times a week and strictly controlling my eating I’ve lost nearly a stone in 3 weeks.
I normally have and apple or orange for breakfast about 9am then a brown bread sandwich (NO CHEESE OR PROCESSED MEATS!!!) for lunch about 1pm and a normal tea. I’ve worked out im rarely taking in more than 1500 calories a day.
Seems to be working a treat but I suppose it only common sense.
So the moral of the story is eat like a mouse and exercise like a horse.

Hello.
As said above eating less and exercising more is the key to it.
But personally I lost a lot of weight by simply cutting out the simple crap that can be avoided.
Examples:
Change white bread for wholemeal.
Cut out crisps and biscuits COMPLETELY.
Change Coke/Lemonade etc for fruit juice/water.
Eat more fruit.
Reduce red meat slightly and eat more white meat.
Obviously theres more you can do but by doing that you should drop a little bit- no need for anything drastic unless you're seeing health problems. A bit of exercise might not hurt either. You never know you might even enjoy it
Cheers,
Matt.
