do i go or do i stay
would like to hear your views on this.
i am 21 currently living at home and single. I am in two minds weather to move out, one part of me is telling me to get on the housing market and the other side is telling me to live at home a bit longer till i either meet someone or are a bit older.
what do u think

get it done mate . save up a deposit and buy . even if you dont move in . you could rent it out till you want to live alone or find a bird . but prices aint going to get much cheaper even if there is a dip .

if you move out tho and are renting you are paying someone elses mortgage while wasting money you could be saving for a deposit save up for a year then buy ..imo....... you will have to one day anyway better sooner rather than later ...

Naaa bugger that, stay at home, much cheaper and you can save big bucks until you meet someone. then you have the clout to buy somwthing decent.
I don't know what all the fuss is about buying a house, it's only a roof over your head. and a status symbol of todays society that says "look at me and how well off I am".

if you can afford to move out then i would say go for it, get a decent deposit and buy somewhere, renting is, as said, just paying someone elses mortgage!
just make sure you can afford to pay all the bills mortgage insurances etc, and have money left over to be able to "play" a little!

Definately stay at home,dont move out cos you thinks its what you "have to do" I finished uni last year came back to the family home got a good job and now im just spending a year or two at home earning a nice salary saving a bit spending a bit
I dont think i wud even entertain a morgage in todays climate without getting a joint one so we can borrow our combined salaries and get a juicey house in the country somewhere or maybe a terraced house the way its going
answer: stay on home till the time is economically right
ps you havent just had an arguement with your mam about tidying your room have you?

Gas bill
Electricity Bill
Water bill

internet bill
sky bill (if applicable)
then the standards like
car
car insurance
fuel / service / repairs
going out
tabs
beer
takeaways
expenditure for getting laid (taking birds out, not the losers way in 'dam)
put those into a spreadsheet.........

dpnt fprget.. the time you have to spend doing your own washing, cleaning up after yourself, cooking for yourself, shopping, fixing things, decorating, gardening (if have on) etc etc etc......

i see where you coming from... you are paying for a roof over your head either way... difference being you will never own that roof if you are renting, and if you are renting the owner can have "his" roof back anytime they like, leaving you without one!

of course a morgage will cost you you something for the priviledge (interest) but after 25 years the house is yours renting is simply dead money after 25 years renting a place you'll have nothing to show for it. rent is by and large the same amount or in some situations more expensive than paying off a morgage

when we looked into buying or renting, rent worked out about £100 more than a mortgage per month on a smaller property than we eventually bought...
plus.. while you are renting a property and paying all the bills etc that going with living away from mum and dad, can you really afford to save enough to get a decent deposit on a mortgage eventually?? not that many can i wouldnt think!

so how much would the gas, water and electric cost me a month in a 2 bed apartment roughly.
i will sell the scooby and just use my company car for a bit. so i can save money there.

gas & lekky about a fiver a week, water couple of quid presuming you dont have a swiming pool
council tax will be your responsibility, if your old man has been paying it for the family home maybe 1k+ / pa for you

have bunged answers to your questions... but this is how much i pay for a 2 bed place! and everyones bills vary considerably!
