My g/f just passed her test last week. She was told by the examiner that if she received 3 points in 2 years then she would be banned and would have to take her test again. When she told me this I told her that AFAIK that in 1995 a law came into place whereby new drivers were banned after receiving 6 points, and to my knowledge this was still the case. I've tried a search on the net and can only see information regarding the 1995 law and nothing more recent to this.

Anyone shed any light? Her instructor also said it was now 3 points as well.

Right, just called the DVLA and after a marathon automated response selection I can confirm that it still is 6 points and not three. Dunno why they said 3

The dilema now is whether to tell her its 6 or 3 We had a heated discussion as to whether it was 3 or 6 before, but she might be a bit more cautious driving about thinking its 3.

why dont you just tell her everthing, cause if she finds out what you told her was wrong, shell be pi55ed at you.

Suppose it was a lost cause from the start, you can never argue facts with women
