Dont buy one off ebay if you want a real one!
I got a fake in Italy last year, and it looked very good on first impression, but after a couple of days I noticed the 'Breitling' wings werent quite on the face straight, and the strap broke soon after!

Buy it from a proper Brietling retailer, you cant go wrong then! You shuould gat papers with and serial numbers and all that good stuff! Stay away from ebay when buying watches!
Try this company, "Tourneau" (not sure of there web site) They are in the US, should be cheaper than uk! well my watch was anyway! You can at least use as a start point!
Not keen on the Brietling, heard some bad stuff myself!
Ever thought of a Omega Seamaster or the new Omega Seamaster pacific Ocean?
Of course i have the James bond seamaster, well worth the dosh!
Happy hunting! Adam

I've got a fake, but its very well made and is atleast 3 years old.
Showed it to a women in maplin and webb and she couldnt tell the difference at first.
The only thing that gives it away is the "B" on the second hand looks slightly wrong, but its such a small error.
Theres a website which tells you what to look for. I'll see if I can find it again.

My breitling has a warrenty booklet with a ref number which is the model and a serial number which is the serial number. Both are on the watch back and in the warrenty booklet which should also have the retailers stamp in it.
There is aslo a certificate with the serial number on.
Check for those.Everyone knows papers increase the value of a watch so when people say they have lost them be suspicious.

Go to an authorised dealer - you know it makes sense.
If you try an independent (i.e. non high street) they may match an internet price from say blitzwatches.co.uk - that's exactly what I did, and very please with it too.

I really don't see how serial numbers can be 100%. Not very hard to copy genuine numbers, surely?
Is this a Bentley Breitling we're talking about? Be very careful, this is a £4k to £20k watch Google it and print out some hi-res images from here:

Richard.

I emailed a guy on ebay that sells rolex and has 100% feedback on there, he suggest that if they dont go for at least £600 there fake, he did give me some other pointers similar to those made above in regard to serial and retail numbers.
I have made an offer on the basis that I wont pay until provenance has been shown, im just waiting for a reply now.
thanks for all your help

Shaggy, looks like you've got it covered Have you tried a Breitling Bentley? I like big watches but that thing is HUGE.
I have an Aerospace that I bought for 'practical reasons'. With a leather strap it is extremely light (titanium) and incredibly accurate - like only three seconds a year - and with lots of useful functions.
You couldn't ask more from a watch. So why do I never wear it
Richard.

These watches are huge.....
They made 4 different models for Bentley Motors.
Never buy off an old bloke who bought a Bentley but didnt want the watch....bull5hit...and never buy off E-bay, unless you know what your doing.
Note:The Bentley my boss bought was £4600, it was nice, but the second hand was odd to say the least, when it rotated 360 deg, it read 100 seconds...
