Landlords - Content Insurance advice please
Hello learned SNers,
I have a 1st flr flat I rent out, I have full buildings insurance, our contract with the tenant states she must be liable for her own belongings.
The carpets are ours, and remember it's on the 1st floor.
So... what happens if she floods the place, and subsequently downstairs? Do I need a separate contents insurance for our stuff and to cover any damage to the owner downstairs, or is this covered on our buildings insurance (doubtful), or supposed to be covered on her insurance? Basically, we have no contents insurance of our own... do I need to get it?
TIA
John.

your landlords insurance should cover it.... if you have a decent policy
Do you have a management company looking after insurance and maintenance for shared areas? If so you would usually be best to take out a blanket policy with a single insurer to cover the entire building and then add the contents portion to the rent for each flat. That way no-one get shafted
