I suggest you have a look at http://www.tiffany.com/ , digest the prices on there (make sure you're sitting down), and then decide for yourself whether the e-bay stuff is fake...

Nothing special, just well marketed, seriously mass produced baubles for people who are told what to like. You find it's copied a lot because (a) Tiffanys have built up the image and (b) a monkey can knock out silver bangles for about 30p a throw. Davyboy's got it exactly right.
I've always thought it would be a lot more meaningful to have something made by a proper jeweller - a one off you've maybe had an input into the design of, by someone you've met, not from a factory in China.
On saying all that it's a helluva lot easier to get the plastic out on-line

Steer clear of the Ebay stuff. Tiffany have got so fed up with Ebay's lack of action over fake goods that they are suing them in the States for large amounts of money. It could have serious repercussions for Ebay as a whole.
David Lock's choice is better IMHO.

Its another brand which has been killed off by all the fake stuff (yes mostly off ebay!)
It'll go the same way as brands like Ralph Lauren and Armani - who would pay big money for the genuine item when chavs are all out there wearing the fake stuff?

TBH, and purely IMO, I think the little blue boxes mean as much as the item inside. It's just the name nowadays, I think, and the chavs buying it on eBay have cheapened it no-end.

Have bought some Tiffany stuff for my other half and when you compare the weight and quality you will understand where some of the price premium goes. A lot of products are Tiffany replicas.

Their stuff is horrendously over priced!
A client of mine is a jeweller and he is disgusted at their mark ups.
(Probably just insanely jealous because people still keep paying 00s for silver tat worth 1/4 of the cost simply cos it says Tifannies )

I think it just depends whether she actually likes it or not! I have always liked their designs, and have quite a lot of it, though mainly just for day to day wear rather than special occasions. Could probably have got some similar stuff a lot cheaper, but I liked it and that's what's important to me!

People miss the pont with Tiffany's stuff......saying you are paying for the name, of course you are...but so what?
Me and my wife took our Honeymoon in NY and bought our wedding rings at Tiffanys on 5th Ave........no its not a one off design, yes its on the "high street" and yes... £2k on a couple or rings and sure you pay for the name, but the whole experience, the little blue box, etc is what you are buying as well.
couple of years ago i bought her an aniversary ring from Tiffanys in London- when she opened the bag and saw the blue box, that alone was worth the £5k price ticket......could i have got it cheaper elsewhere? who cares...not me.
If your into the idea that your jewlery is a bargain and stunning quality thats fair enough....i can understand that, but also realsie that for many theres more to the experience of giving a gift like that than knowing you got a good deal.
If you wife likes her gift wrapped with some romance a little blue box often does the job.
