Per Annum how much do you earn ?

Hmmm, if I was earning a "binload" of cash, I may look at a more expensive car! Although I am above average, but a long way behind a friend who drives a Maranello!

You should have added the 100k+ to the pole, that would have been a more interesting figure to get votes for

Yes you need to have a £100k bracket

You need to say whether it includes spouses income

Also salary doesn't equate to wealth. You may have someone who earns £25k
pa but has just inherited a £500k house from his parents. That would make him fairly wealthy in my book

Wealth, as said above, has nothing to do with earnings.

Assests and debts are a better measure.

You could be earning only the National Average Wage of £38,000 - but, have a £400k house fully paid up and no debts anywhere.

Or, you could be on £60,000+ and have debts of £500k ........

Also, if you have enough to live on, enough to do what you want to do, have your health, family, friends and contentment ...................

Then, my friend, you are the richest person alive!!!

Also, money is completely relative - someone earning £30K who owns there own house is better off than someone who earns £40K but is paying out £1500 a month on their mortgage. Depends on your personal situation, lifestyle, what you spend your money on etc...

Plus how many hours are worked to earn the money ? I would rather work 20 hours a week for £500 than 60 hours for £1000.

IMHO the only people who worry about how much other people earn are those than cant really afford the lifestyle the glossy mags they read are telling them they should have, or are arrogant enough to think 'they are worth more' than what they earn.

Poll edited...

Damn - the section £60-70K+ now has a lot of entries (13) that may not be a true reflection as it was previously the £60K+ option...

isnt the post about earnings? i see it was altered so maybe it was wealth to start with?

earnings is earnings....forget mortage, bills debt......thats a whole other thread. As i read it its just to see if the norm SN'er makes more money than normal (i would have said yes 5 years ago but i doubt it now unless McDonalds have dished out a pay rise)

Is it just that people in general are overly obsessed with money?
I would rather be happy and content than be striving for that extra pound note.
I took a substancial pay cut to get in to a job that I would enjoy more. After 5 years or so it had evened itself out but not without associated problems. The wife also started working a good job so all in all we are satisfied with our lot in life.
I no longer own a Scooby yet am happy. How can that be

There is far more to life than earning great wodges of cash. Funny how so many of the rich are so miserable and discontented with life.

Job satisfaction is extremely important as well as the usual good health and a happy family life to go with it.

Very true, apart from the toss that you continue to spout about the average wage

mb

p.s. It should be average salary, and even then your figures are complete bollocks!

Have never thought money makes you happy - the one thing it does do is mean you worry less about paying a bill, or if you can afford something you want when you see it.

In a roundabout way I suppose it takes away some of the stress that people who dont have enough have, which gives you an easier life, maybe it would be more correct to say lack of money makes you unhappy.

Theres no fun whatsoever in wanting, say a Porsche, going and buying it without haggling and without saving first or trying to do a deal to pay for it!

Life holds no basic, seat-of-the-pants challenges for the really rich!

People who say that money cannot buy you happiness are spending it in the wrong shop

I agree though - wealth has little to do with money

Just wondering what people in the 100k bracket do to earn that amount of money?
