Default LCD TV

Firstly is it worth buying an lcd tv as i keep hearing people saying to wait as the is some kind of new technology coming out. I was thinking even if there is then it would be too expensive anyway.
Secondly i was thinking about buying a Samsung LE32R41B for approx 780 quid and was wondering whats your views on the samsung set as was going to get rid of my crt and use this through my PC. Lastly does anybody know the difference between the following apart from price.

Samsung LE32R41B
Samsung LE32R41BD - I know this has freeview, anything else
Samsung LE32R51B - Dont know

Cheers everyone
Steve

LE32R41B : 32" without freeview
LE32R41BD : 32" with freeview - that is the ONLY difference.
LE32R51B : 32" without freeview - exactly the same as R41B but the shape of the black front bezel is different. This model is only sold by the DSG group (Dixons, etc) and is different so that you can't price match a R41B against it. Sneaky huh

I've got a LE32R41BD, and the freeview is deffo worth the extra £20-30 given analogue will be switched off in a few years....saves having to have an extra digital tuner box.

I think the contrast on the 51B is 3000:1, the other 2 are 800:1

Not quite true, this model is definately available outside of the DSG group although suprisingly, DSG are the cheapest

The "new technology" you refer to is SED. It is due by the middle of this year, so expect to see it in shops by the middle of next at the earliest. It promises true 1080p/i hi-def with 100,000/1 contrast ratio. It is based on CRT technology, so expect PQ to by as good or better than the current best CRT sets, but with the benefit of flat panel proportions. The boss of Toshibe has been quoted (possibly falsely or misquoted ) as saying that when SED comes to market they have no intention of it being an elitest product with a high premium as it will restrict initial sales, and that the big money to be made will be from pitching it directly against plasma/LCD for high volume sales.
