If it's Open Up, then it just shows........
a) How up-front Leftfield were when they produced it in 1993.
b) How up-front I was, playing it in clubs in 1993.
c) How good it still sounds today.
or...........if it was "heavy up to date" music......
d) How (if a 1993 track sounds up to date) music still relies on the quality stuff of the past for it's inspiration.........
It is a superb tune!!!

Open up was around the same time as Lionrock by Lionrock (from memory, another great tune)

Never intended this to be a John Lydon tribute thread but what the hell..
Agree 'Public Image' the single was in a class of it's own, never really got into the more ecentric PIL stuff but did have an album (paris au printemps?) that had some class tracks. Recently bought Metal Box and another early album on CD and realised I missed something back then (stuck in punk mode really..)
Rise, love song and world destruction were all brilliant, in fact most things he can be arsed to do are pretty damned good..
I can also see Leftism being purchased this weekend....

@ GutmannPug -- no, the other way round, Leftfield did two dub mixes of the Renegade Soundwave track. Well, they weren't exactly mixes, more like completely new tracks just using a vocal sample.
Nowt wrong with RSW tho'

oh my lord wash your mouths out
the single best leftfield moment ever on vinyl is their remix of more kante's yeke yeke
singlehandedly creating the huge drum roll breakdown which featured in god alone knows how many tracks after that
it was a feature so beloved of trance djs
i joked to sasha when we played in france that he should play the longest break down and i would time it while i went to the bar
he did and it was over 4 mins!!!!
some acetate by blue amazon
perhaps star of david or javelin
either way it was on skinny malinky
