Utter tosh - scare mongering rubbish. Have a look on Pistonheads and Safe speed - there are several threads on this. I would have thought that the GMP had better things to do. Sorry, my mistake, motorists are the biggest criminal element in the country.

The quotes used in the Rebecca Harrison case (tragic as it was) have been changed by GMP to make them more dramatic. A very sad state of affairs when a police force stoops to these levels

I see nothing wrong in appealing to the motorist's better nature and giving good reasons not to drive too fast in constricted or populated areas.

I do however object to the sort of overbearing and unpleasant threats and assumptions in that publication. It certainly demonstrates the attitude of the police and authorities towards motorists in general and it does their reputation no good at all in the eyes of the public.

The sadest part is that speed is not the real problem on our roads it is purely and simply crap drivng standards or ability that causes the incidents in the first place speed my be an issue

I see they're still relying on misquoting 7 year old statistics (although I note they now say that it is "estimated" that speed is responsiblefor 1/3rd of accidents).

Oh dear and the police wonder why the public perception of them is at such a low !
Why can not there be someone with just plain common sense that says to them (the Police) - if you print and distribute this, it is not going to help you at all - it will very possible make the situation worse.

I believe i raised some of these issues to Chris 5-0 in an earlier post, one of them being that when evidence/ charge is contested, threats of worse outcome are put forward, rather than disclosure of the evdence at the time. once again they use this, as a scare tactic to cow people into submission

I like the way they flatly refuse to belive in cloning, yet identity theft (cloning) is one of the biggest thrats to hit us today, cars do get cloned, and number plates do get made wrongly!!!!


what this does say, very plainly is where there prioritys lie, not with reduction of crime in areas where it needs addressing, ie street crime/ violent crime, but once again the easy detectable crimes will be persued at any cost.
