Is this right?
A bloke asks 3 younger guys not to drop litter, they set about him knocking him to the ground, kicked and stamped on him, subjected him to "a brutal and sustained attack. It was gravely dangerous to his health and future. Once you had knocked him down, you stamped on his body and head and kicked his prone body after he ceased to move." The sentence? You wont believe it...

What we really need are more Magistrates and Judges who are in touch with the man on the street and know how pissed off we all are at pitifully lenient sentences.

Funny how hard these people are when they have a few of their mates to join in isnt it ?

2x 20 yr olds and 1 18yd old in a young offenders institure? WTF, are they not old enough for a real prison? lock them up with rapists and let them get their a$$ beaten, and not just with punches and kicks

The court heard that Mr Beattie (the vicitm), who did not attend the hearing, had been reluctant to press charges but that police proceeded on the strength of the CCTV evidence.
Surely that makes it difficult for the magistrates to judge the severity of the attack and whether there was any provocation, hence a lighter sentence?
