Default Taking stitches ot ?

There's 6 in my back, and I cant be arsed going to the docs on Monday morning to get them taken out. Is it easy?..I assume it's just snip the knot and pull them through?

Anyone done this?

Scariest thing I ever did: took one of the stitches out that was annoying me after I had the snip done.

As I closed those scissors................

Normally use stitch cutters which basically are hooked scapel blades.
Cut very close to the skin so you only pull the minimal about of silk through, make sure the area is clean, use a bit of dettol or such.

You should really do it in a sterile environment chips. Septicemia wouldn't be nice.

So much for these bloody dissolving ones as well. Had 4 cuts made for an op last September. One of the scars has a hard white lump which I was told is a knot and would dissolve after 3 months - Still There!!!!! and as itchy as hell
Have fun!!

You would be safer going to get the doctor or a good looking nurse to remove them. You would look a bit silly if you got an infection or something.

Many years ago I had some stiches in my head. Went to the docs to get them removed, and they missed one (dark stiches under dark hair). After it itching like hell for a while, I spotted it and removed it myself. I'm no medic (but nor are most of the others here I guess), but can't see why it would be any more likely to go septic than a cut or similar.

However, I can't complain at Les' idea of the good looking nurse!

if it is the blue nylon looking stitch then it is one long one, just snip it and pull it outslowley, its easy, if they are the silk ones forget it, they hurt and get stuck HTH
