**** that. Knowing some of the salaries on here, your looking at rocks the size of the Pink Panther!!!!
No lass is getting a months salary's worth of a ring out of me. I've got more important things for the money to go on.
Davegtt, yup totally agree on that point.

The last b1tch decided a week later to naff off to her ex fiance. Thankfully I didn't spend a months salary on the ring or I would have said goodbye to £1800.

When i bought my missis her engagement ring! worked out a treat!
I was in the US at the time, just outside vegas (yes spent most weekends in vegas).
I had been thinking about popping the question anyway! I walked past this jewellers, there it was! $900 about £550 at the time.
It took me two days to decide to to buy it! Bought! popped the question on suprise return!
Sent it away to be valued for insurance!worth £900 or there abouts!
Bonus! Investment or what!
If she throws it at me, pawn it! money back plus more!
everyone's winner!

what a load of bollox. If you're (a) mad enough to pay that much, you've got more money than sense.
(b) about to marry someone who expects that amount of money to be spent on a ring, then IMHO, you've got the wrong partner.
As others have said, you could buy an onion ring and that would be good enough.

I love mine no matter what it cost. It's the sentiment that's important.
Clare
(A shallow woman - apparently)
BTW, at £4K it wasn't quite a month's salary, but I think that's enough, don't you?

An engagement ring is compensation for having to put up with you men
Its not the cost thats important........its the size of the diamond!! And i have seen some expensive rings that look like they are from a lucky bag.
Clare you are a very lucky woman

I recently proposed to my girlfriend, she wasn't expecting it and would have been happy with a £50 ring (she said that way before I did the deed). I spent about £4500 but that was my choice - not what she wanted but obviously she loves it.

My advise is spend around a grand then get her to sign a piece of paper saying that if you split up you get the ring back.
Believe it or not there are women out there who get engage a few times in there life and keep the rings.

GROSS would be about £7500 Now, that IS gross!! and Ting-Tong will NOT be getting that spent on a gold ring ...................... try taking the ring in 1 week after you have bought it and ask for a price to buy back!
It will be about 10% of what you have just paid!
Use a Coke Can Ring Pull ..... the meaning is the same!

I was ended up almost spending about a months salary worth, didn't plan it just worked out that way.
However, as everythins was being made to order form my local jeweller they stuffed soemthing up on the billing and only charged me for the stone and not the band + mount, so that was a nice surprise lol.
Checked out similar rings on the net and they were a lot more than I wa going to pay before hand so 'd recommend going to your local jeweller and getting a price for them to make you one. I got exactly what I wanted and it worked out a better deal, and it's worth a hell of a lot more now than what I paid for it
