Inverness Traction Depot is pretty good if you've got a few minutes to kill at the station. Just off the end of platform 4 as i remember.

Don't go to Wick, though. It's flat and boring up there.

Do you want lively or the scenary????

Scenary go to Western Scottish highlands, Oban is nice as is Gairloch. Aviemore is great.

Skye has fantastic scenary although the locals in Portree like a good scrap and their drinkipoo's

You want nightlife go to Edinburgh, cant comment on Glasgow but i've been told its quite good if a little rough

Go to Prestonpans and get your car checked in with Andy F and then up the A9 before heading west to Mallaig (fantastic roads) and over to Skye (more fantastic roads) all with no traffic at this time of year.

As said favourite place for what.
Quiet Holiday - Laide/Gairloch
Scenery - Morar or around Kyle of Lochalsh
Winter sports - Aviemore or Fort William (depends on the weather)
Quality all rounder - Ballathie House near Perth (scenery & shopping & salmon fishing) in a great hotel
Nightlife - Glasgow
Most things to see & do - Glasgow or Edinburgh
Worst part - The M74 back to England

We spent Christmas on Skye, it's a beautiful place and so quiet in the winter. I think the fact that we had blue skies and sunshine all week helped as the views were stunning everywhere. Wester Ross is beautiful too although we only spent one day there on a bit of a taster ready for another holiday.

LOL!!!!

As Edward I says in braveheart, "the only thing wrong with Scotland, is it's full of Scots"

Come to Wales instead, we are just as unwelcoming, but it's not as far to go, and it's warmer

Geezer
