Hit A Cyclist Today!
Coming up to a one way street off a side-road and I have to turn right. As I come up to the junction, check left, car coming 100m away, quick check right seems clear, left again and I can pull out safely before the oncoming car - now 75m. As I start to there's a flash across my bows (right to left) and a cracking noise as I hit something.
Bloody cyclist going the wrong way down a one-way street
Stop and jump out the car. Cyclist has pulled over and stopped.
"Are you OK?"
"Yes - you should stop at junctions" *
"Well WTF do you think you were doing going the wrong way down a one-way street!" followed by a load of further abuse about road sense etc from me
Could have easily killed the stupid idiot as although I wasn't driving wrecklessly or exceeding the speed limit, I was driving progressively. I had checked for obstructions/pedestrians on the road to the right but this cyclist was going so fast that she wasn't in view when I did so. You just don't expect someone to come hurtling down the wrong way on a one-way street.
Perhaps next time she'll be more circumspect but I doubt it
* Its a give way to traffic coming from the left - minor into a major

I would have smacked him on the nose then called the police as somebody was hurt in the accident then he could explain to them how it all happened. Just deny hitting him, claim he shot over your bonnet face first lol

Cyclists think normal rules of the road don't apply to them. The number of them you see riding through red lights as well because nothing's coming.
Don't worry about it.

Speaking as a cyclist.....served her bloody right for going the wrong way up a one way street.
Having said that, as a pedestrian, I always look both ways up and down a one way street as I was once nearly run over by a reversing car going backwards up a one way street. Still, it was still facing the right way so it's OK

Hmm another lycra-clad-invincible-cyslist who does not think the rules of the road apply to them!
had similar why/how could anyone riding a pushbike think that they are immune to the rules of the road and a collision with anything bigger than a *** packet wil not hurt them - fools!
Speaks as a cyclist of some 30+ years on and off.
Gets sane/sensible ones a bad name!

Dam, Dam, Dam!! i opened this thread in the hope there was now an official day on which i was performing a kindness by lumping a Cyclist one along side the ear.
perhaps there should be one - I know of quite a few people who would willingly take part and it would bring about a feelgood factor that is missing from other days like National no smoking day etc

I guess strictly speaking the rules of the road dont apply to cyclists as they wont get points on their license or fined for cycling down the one way street the wrong way.
I am both a driver and a cyclist and when on my push iron I make certain I am proceeding with caution but not always complying with the rules that licensed vehicles have to. I may nip on a pavement when queuing traffic is hugging a kerb when I am on the inside (if there are no pedestrians), I use speed bumps as ramps , cut down alleys, spit on the windscreens of cars parked in cycle lanes etc. I cant say Ive ever gone the wrong way down a one way street though... Thats a tad silly!
I know that cars are made of metal and are bigger and harder than me on my bike and treat the road with caution at all times. It doesnt take a genius to work out who will come of worse everytime... The dude Puff hit was a numpty.
As for Vandals idea... I look forward to that... Trumping would be interesting after you've had a cycle pump shoved up your ar$e by a retaliating cyclist ...

I nearly killed a cyclist last week. One a five lane road, driving to the local "drug store" and started to indicate right, when luckily (I suppose) my wife spotted an object moving in the dark ahead of us.
The object turned out to be a teenage lad on a bike with no lights (it was pitch black, no street lights either) riding TOWARDS the flow of traffic, on my inside. Had my wife not had seen him, I would have turned right and he would have been rotating with my tyres!
******* unbelievable!
I used to love riding my mountain bike around London, and I don't think cyclists should worry about ALL of the rules of the road, but by chosing to ignore some / all rules of the road, you have to be so alert and be constantly anticipating everyone. Not riding into the side of cars! Stupid tart!

First Page Highway Code
The Highway Code is essential reading for everyone. Its rules apply to all road users: drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians as well as horse riders.

The cycling and horse fraternity seems to attract more than it's fair share of arrogant tossers which given their lack of contribution to road taxation puzzles me.
