Home Gym / Cross Trainer
Anybody recommend which brand and / or model of cross trainer I should be looking at, please?
Or which I should avoid?
Price doesn't matter too much, but want good value!
Cheers!

Its got a heart rate monitor (polar compatible), lots of different modes (hill climb/afterburn/race etc). Downside is its a bit on the large side, and doesn't fold away. Use ours to compliment my usual fitness training (Karate) - great for leg workouts.
Recommended though. Would avoid the cheapo flimsy ones myself.

Have a cross trainer, wanted one for the same reason as you. I got fed up with getting changed to go to gym and couldnt be arsed to go out in the cold etc. Thought is was a lot of money £720 a year and not going there!
I dont use it, just takes up space in our room and is a good clothes horse
I will be joining a gym when i get my finances sorted, after an expensive christmas!

Thanks a lot Matt, but I'm currently living in the states.......
Life Fitness is regarded as the top stuff, correct? Remember it from Holmes Place. Is it worth spending the extra if it's going to be used an hour a day?
Don't want to get bored of it any quicker cause it's "mid-priced" and needs to be repaired once a week!

Hi there,
Was in a similar boat. Was a member of my local Esport Fitness centre, but due to work hours ( IT contractor ), never used it. And, at £65 a month, wasnt worth it. So, I cancelled my membership, and brought my self a Precor 546 Cross trainer.
My one is an ex gym / commerical unit, as I wanted it to last, be strong enough as Im 6ft / 18 stone ex-bouncer, so the usually crappy home versions wouldnt take my weight, reflect, creak and stop working.
Good thing about having your own one is that Im not limited to times, and I have screwed a tv to the wall, and watch TV now whilst working out. The size of the unit is rather large though and I have it in my pool area. Yes, I have a pool, but never seem to use it despite heating the ******* thing all year round (pools - waste of money ).
I tend to go on the cross trainer for 40 mins, then dive into the pool.
One thing I love, is that I can work out in my pants now ! :-) Girlfriend finds it rather amusing !
Recently brought a slam man, well got given it as a gift. Before having one, look at them as cheap crap, but now I have one, wow amazing !!! I tell you, do 3 min bouts, on level 3 / mode 3, and boy, you are sweating like a pig. Ive got bruises on my knees, where Ive been kneeing it, hands are sore from whacking !

I bought myself a home gym and cross trainer. I now get home from work and do half an hour each day exercising. Starting to finally get in shape. It's the best thing I ever did, I can't be bothered getting to the gym and farting around with all the malarky associated with it.

cheers,
