Gene wilder and Cleveland (Sp?) Little did more to promote racial harmony in that film than possiby anyone else other than a certain Dr. King. It'd be deemed racist, by the PC brigade today, but -as ever- they'd be missing the point.
A film as intelligent as it is daft and funny.

The old lady gets me everytime.
Sherrif "Good morning ma'am"
Lady " up yours ******"
When you watch it for the first time, not the responce you expect.
That film was an absolute classic, and did more for race relations than the pc croud today, but most people miss the subtle messages and take it at face value.

Send a wire to the main office, and tell them that I said . . . OW!
Send wire, main office, tell them I said, "ow." Gotcha. ...
One of my all time favourite films. Saw this as a nipper, growing up in the Scottish Highlands, where it was very unusual to see black or other ethnic people for that matter. Apparently at the supermarket in Inverness one day I saw a black man and said to my Mum, "Is that a ****** Mummy?"! My Mum says she was extremely embarassed but the chap thought it was highly amusing . I'm happy to say I have grown up without any racist tendancies whatsoever, so it obviously didn't have a detrimental effect on me.
Quality film.

"Spear Chucker" was the nickname given to a medic in MASH until they pulled the character when they realaised there were no coloured medics in Korea.
Another classic (TV series) that deals with issues very well.
