Premium Bonds???

Premium Bonds???
I've been looking at information on Premium Bonds but I'm still not sure, due to differing info online, how much a singular bond is? I've read that they are £1 and also £10.
Does each bond have an individual number? If so, if I get a £1000 worth do I get a big list of numbers sent to me?
The internet is full of info on Premium Bonds but cannot answer my questions above. As 23 million people in the UK have at least one Premium Bond I'm pretty sure I'll find the answer on here.
Cheers,
Craig.

Each Bond is £1 ..........
Minimum investment is £100 ...........
Maximum is £30,000 ......... sadly
If you buy 1000 then you will get 1000 x £1 Bond Numbers in a block - or multiple blocks adding up to 1000 .....

Probably not a bad form of investment at the moment!!
Shares are still looking good, but Japans shares took a beating last week and its affected all the major markets.
Most assets, such as housing are massively over-valued at the moment, so not looking good.
Gold has increased a lot recently, but may still have some way to go.

£1000 alone is OK, but low chances of a big prize - 1 x £50 prize per year given a good wind.

Oh, yes, another RED HOT TIP ...... buy them about the 20th of the month - reason?
Well, even 1 day in a month counts as if you held them for that month - you need to get through another month - then, the 3rd month they go into the draw.
NEVER, EVER, buy Premium Bonds at the begining of the month!!

£1 in 1958 was a reasonable amount ... our fourth house was £325 in that year .................... an average house, like that one, is now around £185,000 - so, that £1 Bond then has a value of about £569 now (if it was put into property instead!).
That said, it 'could' have won a £500 prize at sometime in its long life - and broken even with a property investment!
You pays your money - but, property is the first place to put £1000 I would suggest, for a longer term view.
When your property portfolio is sorted, complete with a few buy-to-lets, then stick £30k into Premium Bonds .... not forgetting the wife and children!!

This thread is causing me all sorts of problems at home, the Mrs said Alan Sugar's belief in them is so strong he donated his advertisement fee to charity, but I don't think he has advertised them
Please tell me i'm right, the stake is a premium bond to whichever of us is right

Sorry, Johnny, but Alan Sugar is currently advertising them on TV with his fee going to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
If you don't have any Premium Bonds already, the minimum purchase is £100 to get started.

I think Alan Sugar is a ****.
Why does he feel the need to tell people thats where his fee is going? He may believe in them, but does he actually have any?

They are definetly safe, but studies last year showed that with average "luck" you would be better off having the money in a regular building society. It's always best to divvy any money you want to invest into various fields, so don't lump all your cash into PB's.
And WTF is Alan Sugar talking about on the ad - what has his donation got to do with ad? Hate people who boast about their good deeds!
And yes, pslewis, we're really impressed how many times you said you had 90 grand in premium bonds, and fifteen houses and that mining company in Africa.......
