He is working on our behalf ..... he shouldn't have to pay anything at all - in fact, I believe that MP's shouldn't pay any Income Tax.

They are doing a job we couldn't and wouldn't do .... we don't reward them enough!

And civil servants as well I assume? And public service workers, doctors, nurses, firemen, policement, binmen, train drivers, bus drivers etc. After all, they all do stuff on our behalf.

Blair pays less council tax on his massive house than my parents pay on their piddly bungalow.................but he lives in a conservative borough and they live in a labour one!

If you read the article, that's not what he said. He paid the tax on his other 2 properties but thought the tax on the property in question was paid out of his salary as the property comes with the job iirc. In other words, the tax WAS paid, just not by him lol Looks like an oversight, embarassing yes, he shoulda checked maybe (busy man though), will get ribbing from colleagues yes, controversial issue needing anymore attention - not really.

Not a great fan of Prescot with his stance on many things but I think he does try to have principles and is honest. What you see is what you get type of politician etc. Not like many of his colleagues though!!

moving off the point here - the fact that (and this is one of hundreds of incidents) they found over 4000 bodies in just 1 of the mass shallow grave sites - killings arranged by the main man Saddam - is enough to say the war wasn't illegal and he needed to be knocked off his perch!! GO TONY

I believe the basis for the war was the existence of WMD's - NO evidence has been found of their existence so the war is still illegal!

Correct, you cant go saying a war is justified after the event.

It's also a fact that more Iraqis have died since the US and UK declared war on them than in the whole of Saddams reign.
