Gotta Love A Bargain
Not car related but isn't that what this forum's for?
Saw a jacket i liked before christmas but felt the £250 price tag was a wee bit steep so left it. Was back in the shop today where i was surprised to see they had a few left after the January madness, only one in my size though. Seeing as the price had been cut from £250 to £166 minus a further 20% i thought **** it and tried it on.
It fitted ok but one of the backs of the riveted buttons was missing on the collar - looked ok from the front but had no way of clasping. Sensing an opportunity for a bargain i asked the chap at the desk if we could come to an 'arrangement'. He went to ask his manager but came back saying it'd have to be sent back to the manufacturer. Feeling a bit gutted i left and was half way up Union Street before i turned back thinking if i didn't buy it i'd just go and spend £400 on another one i'd seen...
So i went back in and said i'd just take it the way it was. The shop assistant tried a bit harder this time and went looking for spare clasps and called the manufacturer. Meanwhile a pleasant young lady at the till nipped upstairs to ask a different manager how much she could get knocked off it if i bought it. She came back saying a further 20%. Result!
Meanwhile i've found the missing part of the clasp is still attached to the male part on the opposite side. The numbers eventually rang through the till at £106.21. The best bit is i have £100 to claim as expenses through work following our new reservoir coming online. £250 reduced to £6.21.
Just hoping my dear old Mum can fix the female part of the button back on, doesn't look too technical by all accounts.
Any other ridiculous bargains this January?

Nice bargain.
What about Xmas trees ?
Went into local Homebase just after Xmas to get some paint and a few other bits and bobs.
Saw the Xmas tree sale going on. Some trees (built in lights etc.) that were £69.99 before Xmas were down to £24.99.
Some trees that were £39.99 were down to £7.50.
Now I was looking a few weeks ago for Xmas trees to use are props for a photo shoot, so this was the ideal time.
So I picked up four trees that were £39.99 each not a week previously and got them for £7.50 each. £30 all in, not bad.
But when I got to the till, it was 15% when you spent over £50 (I think). I had over £50 worth, because I had a load of paint and drill bits as well as the trees. So the trees that were £39.99, I got for about £6.38 each. Bargain.
Cheers
