Default Holiday help needed

OK guys/gals, Not showing off here, well OK I am lol but to alot of you its not much money anyhow but my boss approached me today and said that this year I shall be completing 10 years with the company (not sure if thats a good thing or not) and as a thank you I shall be awarded a holiday of my choice to the value of £2500.... Its a fair lot to me thats for sure Now Im not exactly flush this year so cant be saying £2500 alone on flights and I'll pay for hotels etc as I'll only have about £1000 myself to chuck about and thats going to be needed in spending money.

My main headache though is I cant work out where to go, any suggestions. Dont want the usual boring Spain/Portugal/Greece etc as I can do last minute holidays for £300 each anytime I wanted. so 14 nights away. nothing much more than £1250pp (yes I have to take the misses, what a shame ) Mexico is a no no I presume as theyre rebuilding after all the damn hurricanes this year.

Id love to do Fiji but struggling to find anything, for example go on Expedia.co.uk and I have to look for a date that I can fly on rather than just say dont care when but want to go from here to here.

Anytime after April too as the missses doesnt get this years holidays til then.

Cheers scoobynetters. Canne' wait

Dubai would be my tip, depending on what you are after.

For 1250 each, you'd get flights and some of the best accomadation in the world. Very hot, very sunny, great beaches.

Otherwise, try the Maldives, you'll struggle to spend money whilst you are there, and heard it's still cheap after the tsunami. Same for Bali. Thailand would be a good idea as again, it's very, very cheap once you're there.

If you've not been before then California fly-drive. Fly into LA, a couple of days in Santa Monica or Santa Barbara to relax by the sea. Then drive through the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas, stay a few days, enjoy some night-life, see the Hoover Dam and maybe the Grand Canyon. Then enjoy a superb drive through the bleak and beautiful Death Valley before seeing the lovely Yosemite National Park, arranging some accomodation to the west and east of the Sierra Nevada to break your journey. Then cut west and pick up the Pacific Coast Highway, perhaps spending a couple of days in Monterey as you drive north. Conclude your holiday with a few days in San Fransisco before flying home.

Cheers for the suggestions so far, I was thinking of doing a fly drive, not sure if the misses will agree to that though, her idea is get on a beach and sit there all day. She needs a tan before shes happy to do much else on the holiday...lol

New Zealand, whats that like?

£30 worth of tanning salon time = fly drive holiday of your dreams

Better yet, pay for her to go to bournemouth for a couple of weeks on the beach, then go do whatever holiday you want with the rest

Dont forget to send her a postcard.

Go for a cruise to the Caribbean.

Fully inclusive meals that you can eat, different place each day, safe, great experience.

Wonderful, but by the time you've paid for the flights, you might not have much left for decent hotels. And if you want to go this summer, the weather will be like an English April down there.

And thats not even mentioning the friendly northerners eh Chief

OK Flights do seem to be the main problem with getting anywhere too far away I suppose, might be possible in a package holiday from a brochure I suppose.

Just been having a gander at the Maldives but need to have something to do apart from Scuba Diving. Couldnt bare being stranded on a "paradise beach" for 2 weeks bored out of my head.

Not many helpful web sites about, Just want to be able to say fly from London on this day, dont care where find me something and price it up. Anyone with any decent links like to share?

http://www.lastminute.com/site/trave.../homepage.html

Pop more than £1000 in the price box and I'm sure there will be some innovative suggestions.

New Zealand, Australia and South Africa are on my "To Visit" list
