I'm guessing it's a woman and you're alluding to babies?

You cannot allude to asking about future childbirth plans but I assume you know that.

almost certain it comes under sex discrimination so I wouldnt ask, and it's not a question I ask when interviewing
iirc they have to work for a compnay for 2 years before they qualify for maternity benefits anyway

Maternity leave is a killer of small companies!
If I worked for a small company (10 ppl or less), Satan would be skating to work before I employ a young woman (no matter how fit!).
Paternity isn't too bad as it's unpaid & for a short duration. 6 months for the Ladies (going to 1 year if EU get their way) is just plain stupid.
The 2 year rule no longer applies - its 26 weeks or thereabouts for minimum SMP

but the question that I was asked was " Are you planning to have children" ?
and that was asked by an MP and a "Sir" with HR present in the interview .

Things you cannot ask, apparently
Are you gay
Do you smoke
Are you married
Are you in a steady relationship
Are you disabled
Do you take non prescription drugs
Are you an alcoholic
Are you pregnant
if not, do you plan to have kids
if yes, why the **** are you here?
etc,
etc,
etc..
Fooking place has gone mad.....
