Government overruled police and allowed potential sex offender to work with kids
Im not quite sure how much more stupid new labour can get. They allowed a bloke who is on list 99 (banned from working with children) to take up a teaching post as Ruth Kelly (what a screwed up pseudo lesbian she is) over ruled the decision and allowed him to teach. IT was only recinded after police complained. I mean just how bad is all that.

I do not understand how Ruth Kelly can justify her actions as ths bloke is on the sex offenders register.

As a human being she should have the safety and best interests of the children at heart
as Education Secretary it should be her first priority.
The woman is not fit to hold office IMHO.

What's the whole story though? Was the sex offender one of those, who at 16 years old, shagged his 15 year old g/f?
However, my point is more about the register itself rather than the issue at hand. Ruth Kelly is useless anyway. If the offender should be on the list then no job at school. If they shouldn't be on the list then remove the name from the list THEN give them a job. If you see what I mean

I would have thought that if there was any over-ruling to be done on the police it would have been done by the home secretary i.e. Wingnut Clark and not Rover the Hound!

So, have the police found the evidence inconclusive? In which case, they shouldn't be on the register. If they have found conclusive evidence then what the hell is RK doing? The way the child sex offender's list works is that it assumes guilty until proven innocent. It also doesn't clarify what kind of offenders they are (i.e the most minor single offenders are amongst the worst and sordid serial offenders.
It needs reforming and clarifying IMO.
Still doesn't make it right for a politician to overule law on a whim.
