Storing an oak cabinet in the garage.....(damp)
I have an expensive solid oak cabinet approx 100cm x 150cm but dont have any room for it.Will it be safe to store in the garage or could the cold and damp warp the solid wood. Its very sturdy.
What about sealing it,it may be there for a long time.
cheers
Paul......

If your garage is damp then yes this may well affect it, more so than the cold. But your garage shouldn't really be damp if the roof isn't leaking and it is reasonably weather proof. I'd consider bubble wrap and polythene or old sheet and polythene to protect it from knocks and bumps as well as dust and such. Then check it very few months.

At the very least wrap the cabinet well. I would use felt material such as that used in pond construction (it's laid under pond liner as a protection against stones holing liner and inexpensive for the amount you will need). However I would personally find room inside dl

Be careful if you totally seal it, as any moisture the cabinet has in it now....( there maybe a bit, drying/airing clothes in the house house in winter???) will remain in the cabinet, and will come out when the weather changes, and just condense inside the bag/wrapping.
