Supermarket Mayhem!
Is there a national famine coming our way?
Are the supermarkets closing down soon?
Something must be happening as Ive just come back from our local Sainsbugs and people are literally pushing each other around trying to grab hold of produce to fill their already overladen trolleys.
Or maybe it's Christmas and the shops will be closed for one whole day. How will people manage with these closures.
Best all stock up today with food cos the way it's going there will be none left by tomorrow.

Bizarre, isn't it?
Wait until Boxing Day and you'll see pallets of sugar on ebay for sale bought by the 'just in case' crowd by mistake.
Cheers

Ordered my turkey from the butchers and told to collect tomorrow or Saturday - I know one of the guys who works in there and he gave me a ring earlier and told me the turkeys were in so to beat the crowds I collected it today. No more supermarkets for me this year.

Seriously, though, ordered all my stuff over the internet last week and had it delivered on Monday by Tesco's - no problem! Wouldn't go in a supermarket this time of year if you paid me

Went to Marks and Sparks at Handforth Dean near Manchester, How I came out of there without comitting murder is beyond me, it's the old biddies going around bashing their trolley's into people on purpose to clear a way through that pissed me off...

Went to Morrisons at lunchtime today, what a flippin nightmare, once I was down the fruit and veg aisle that was it!! Everyone had trolley's everywhere, kids, staff trying to put more stuff on shelves so that when you tried to grab something there was an avalanche, at one point everyone was stuck, noone knew where to move or who should move first to get out, I only went for veg and last minute bits and bobs, I was in there for about a hour just to get a few carrier bags worth of things. I got all my main shop delivered last week from Tesco, wish I had done that with the last minite things coz the amount of people today, even filling up for petrol, you would think world war 3 was starting or the shops were closing down for 6 months!

Mate of mine works at one of the big supermarket distribution centres.
They set a new depot record for cases handled the first week of December - 2 million cases Up 300,000 from the week before!

I worked at Asda for 3 years and Christmas was a nightmare! The best story we had was on Christmas Eve a woman bought the last frozen turkey in the building. She had it in her trolly and walked away to get something else and somebody nicked the turkey out of her trolly. She went ballistic at us and wanted us to stop and search trolly's. She was politely told no and the story swept down the checkouts to much laughing!

WTF is wrong with people It's just a normal week apart from needing a slightly bigger meal on one day, so a bigger joint and some extra veg Add some mince pies, a pork pie, a pudding and custard and a bit of alcohol Many people will be eating with relatives so there's a lot who don't even need to get a big shop in, so that should balance out the need
I pre-ordered all my meat at the farm shop and collected a couple of days ago. Did the full shop on wednesday morning, 6am. Grand total £56 at Asda and another £25 at the farm shop, and we have enough in to last us into the new year. What is so difficult
Don't get me started on the @r$3holes who take the kids to supermarkets at this time of year. At any time they aren't a good place for them, but at Xmas there really is no need. I accept that some are single parents and others have working partners, but they can find a babysitter when they want to get p!$$ed. The ones that really get me are the entire families, mum, dad and 3 kids WTF are they thinking, as nearly all of them end up stressed and shouting, clouting the brats and ruining their entire day. Why not one parent does the shop, one looks after the brats. Or drop them off at Grandma's
Anyway, I'm done with everything Xmas related apart from the drinking, eating, socialising and TV watching, so while the idiots all fight over a box of crap mince pies I'll wash my car, clean the house, spend a bit of time on SNet and perhaps get a bit p!$hed

Went to Sainsburys superstore today expecting the worst. Instead drove straight into an empty parking space near the doors, did the normal weekly shop (normally done Saturday but was no way going tomorrow) and did the shopping in the normal time and for the first time ever found the tills were actually empty, checkout girls just sitting there chatting. Was dreading it and turned out to be one of the easiest weekly shops i've done and found they had on the shelf just about everything I needed

Went to Reading town centre yesterday for a cuppla pressies. The Oracle, Debenhams, House Of Fraser, etc were deserted. This was at 11 am !!!!
Went to Tesco to pick up a prescription and it took me 1/2 hour to get parked and in/out. Dont get me started about the queues at the petrol station...... (and at 3 local shell garages).

Bizarre isnt it ? OK, back in the old days maybe the shops would be shut for 3 or 4 days, so stocking up was a good idea, but now most of the supermarkets are shut for as little over 24 hours as they can get away with.
I went to Tesco on thursday morning, thinking it wouldnt be too busy as people would still be in work, but there were plenty of people with two trolleys both overflowing - even if they have a big family, there must have been a months worth of food they had.
