you should have asked to see the calibration cert to see the date it was last tested for accuracy. also they must be almost right in front of you with no wind or rain. thats if with gun. or did they time over distance. also rim size is known to throw speedo out.

pslewis,

I am assuming you are aware that in certain testing conditions these laser reader's have read an inanimate brick wall doing 40mph?

This has been in the papers and other such publications.......

Yeah, right, what you should have said was, "Right Fuzzy-Wooozy, I want to see your calibration certificate, your birth certificate and your marraige certificate .... right now, PIG!"

Then you could say, "Yes the tyres are a little too worn, yes the brightness of the lights are illegal, yes the exhaust is too loud, yes the emmissions are high due to no CAT, yes the numberplate is wrongly spaced"

Just shut up, pay up, grow up and slow down!!

Take it like a man you complete wusss!!

pslewis, I am not disagreeing, but I am merely offering an argument as to the accuracy of the used equipment

TBH the penalty would most probably be the same anyway, whether it be 35mph or 42mph. You were speeding at 35mph, so take it like a man.

35 = no ticket ....................... 36MPH is the limit in a 30

42 is £60 and 3 points .......... and hopefully a lesson has been learned - before a child is killed ..............................

No it was on Trevor McDonalds show on ITV on a Friday evening ........... ooooh about 2 months ago.

Quite an interesting test and it also demonstrated how the Speed camera's 'Anti Slip' software was also prone to errors and was shown to be reading 8mph too high in one test run.

A former senior police officer was on the show, and expressing concern and dismay at the number of prosecutions that were actually due to faulty equipment.

In my area a reading of 35mph in a 30mph zone would give you the opportunity of avoiding points/fine and going to a Police anti-speeding seminar. 42mph in a 30mph zone would give you 3 points and fine.

I would imagine that there is not a driver in the country who has'nt strayed to 35 in a 30 zone due to a momentary lapse of concentration, even though they always strive to stay within the stated limit.

...waiting for that one,Ive heard it all now, going on like he was blasting 70 in a 30, yeah I know 30 can still kill so why not drop the speed limit to 10mph, atleast then the most you could get is a bruised knee...............unless you happen to lay down for 2 mins while it rolls over you!!!

I was caught speeding in a Calibra about 10 years ago - in a 30 - coppa hiding in a conifer bush with a gun ...........................

I hated it, thought it was sneaky, wanted to get off ...... but, I was a grown up - I was speeding, I paid up and learned my lesson.

Would you object to a child killer getting caught by stealth?? No, thought not - so why should a speeding criminal in a car be any different??

BOTH kill children!!

lets not encourage too many more speed restrictions , the law will onl;y put them to use in the wrong areas anyway
