stupid neighbour and cat problem
my neighbour keeps complaining that my cat keeps going and ****ting in his back garden, he has a fair piont but mine is not the only cat in the neighbourhood me and the wife work full time so the cat goes out in the morning, and then comes back in when we get home, we dont have a catflap because we dont want other cats coming in our house and pissing in the kitchen and also we didnt want to spoil the upvc panel on the back door.
I had an argument with him again last night about it cos he now thinks that whenever there is a turd in his garden its my cat thats dropped it! and althought maybe it does the odd one, there is loads of other cats!
he says that next time he sees a cat in his garden he will be ready with his dog, which is some horrible chavvy heinz 57 thing that just yaps all day!
because he has made the threat now with his dog, am i legally allowed to get the police involved??? I dont want his dog to start attacking cats just becuase they are doing their busness!

Hello
I'm not quite sure if this is a real post or not, but if a cat comes into the garden and is attacked by the dog, then that is fair enough really. In fact, I'm not sure why he doesn't just leave the dog out there anyway.

I think if his dog catches your cat in his garden there is sod all you can do about it because it is his property. If it was out on public land and his dog had a go then you prob would be able to do something about it. Legally if his dog did do something to your cat in his garden then you would have to sue privately for compensation I guess.

Some fat old bitch across the road tried to throw a basin of hot steaming water over my cat on Saturday morning, she missed, ran into her house and came out with another. Caught her in the act and needless to say she was told next time I caught her I would be straight over there with a basin of hot steaming water with her name on it. politely, of course!
Some people are bastids. I would phone your local station and ask. They might not give you the time of day but its worth a go.

If he leaves the dog out, and the cat is scared of it, the cat will probably avoid the garden anyway.
I'm happy enough with neighbours who want to use a hose etc to shoo the cats away. No problem. Anything that isn't damaging to the cat.

....but surely tying the hose around the cats neck and swinging it as hard as you can until it's head pops off is deemed 'damaging'

if the dog is out the cat wont go anywhere near anyway, he is talking about waiting and then releasing the dog,,,thats different!!!he is talking about trapping the cat with the dog
there is no choice but to get the police involved, this bloke is a bit of a local nutter and he knows some sorts aswell.
I dont why he has a big problem, he lets his dog do craps on the pavement, or in the park, and he's not the only one, my cats just doesnt go in his garden, and likewise other cats come in my garden aswell,,,everybody gets it.

He can't knowingly set his dog on your cat. - That is a criminal offence. He can however allow his dog into the garden, and if yourcat just happens to be there then tough luck.
Be careful about cat crap arguments though - they have a way of escalating. (Usually because cat owners think that it is fine to allow their cats to do as they please, and they are completely certain that said cat would never ever have a crap in someone elses garden)
On the flip side - how would you feel if he let his dog crap in your garden? - Would you ask him to stop?

i know my cat craps in his garden, it craps in loads of gardens, and loads of cats crap in MY garden!
if his dog crapped in my garden that would be different, dog**** stinks, and it can make you go blind. at least cats bury their turds.

Only if the dog has a particular kind of worm, and it's extremely rare. Toxoplasmosis is an interesting one for catlovers...

Also, you can get toxoplasmosis from cat crap just the same as you can from dog crap
Cat crap does stink. If you think it doesn't then suggest to your neighbour that any cat crap he finds in his garden should be shovelled up and posted through your letter box
