What would you Do/Should I sell My Scoob!!
Guys I need some help, I have been made an offer on my Scooby, the guy wants to pay 3K over book price because of the condition and the love and care I and my local Subaru dealer has given her, I have had her 5 years this month, and I want a Jaguar, the thing is I some how just have a gut feeling if I sell her I am really going to regret it, she is a classic shape Scoob, and has only done 52,000 miles, I myself have only cover 23,000 miles in it in 5 years, part of me says move on the other part says hang on to her, My son says sell it Dad cos you won't get another offer like that, I love my Scoob, and I think I would cry my eyes out if she did go, but then you have to move on.
Help me please.
Cheers

Well if he is paying 3000 over the book price I would go for it. Buy your Jaguar, enjoy it for a yaer or so. Then when you get bored of the Jag (eventually you will) buy back another classic scooby at even a better price.

Would you really care, though? You'd be coming back to Scooby ownership for the thrill of driving it, not to worry about every little ding and stone chip.
If it's a genuine offer - and I'd personally be VERY suspicious of someone offering that much over its book value - then I'd say go for it, you're lucky to find someone who appreciates its condition. I did OK when I sold my mint MY00 last year, but it didn't fetch anything like £3k over book.

Everything has a price. Has he offered you enough? Maybe not if you're only half sure? Sounds like he WANTS it and you're not desperate to sell...

Its only a car !!
You sound like you are emotionally attached to it mate !? Different if it was a classic piece of automobilia history but at the end of the day its a run of the mill car that just so happens to be in great condition.
If you fancy a change and have been given an offer like that (although I would be slightly suspicious of such an offer) then go for it. I know when I changed I didnt miss the Scoob at all.
Variety is the spice of life and all that.

It sounds like a good deal but I would never buy a Jag. They depreciate badly and they aren't the most reliable car around. What about an evo instead

Friend of mine sold his Scoob 3 years ago and bought a Jag. After only a few months he couldn't stand it any more so sold it and bought, guess wot?. Your right, another Scoob. Be warned.

The way Scoobs are selling at the moment, bite his bl00dy hands off. I've had mine advertised all over for 2 months now with not a sniff, and it ain't no scruffer. I could sell a week old turd easier

I went from a (bugeye) wrx to an older XJR... nearly bought a Terzo but bought the jag on a bit of a whim instead. 40k worth of depreciating done already...
At first I was a bit disappointed, cos it's not as exciting to drive at all. A couple of years on and it's really grown on me... the quiet luxury and ease of driving is great, but it will hustle on given the right conditions. Faster than the bugeye in a straight line once rolling, so no slouch. The supercharged 6 has about 320 bhp - blown v8s are 400 or a bit more for the 4.2s.
I love the jag now, but don't expect the same driving experience. Group 20 but still cheaper to insure than the scoob was... on the downside, MPG is shocking and parts very far from cheap.

I had to let mine go for silly money when trading it in. If you have got a great offer and want another car some time in the near future then take the good offer now as they wont come along very often and you could end up having to give it away at a later time when you do change cars.

Colin, take it. 3k over book is a offer that will never be repeated. If you do get a Jag make sure that it comes with 12 months RFL already fixed to the screen
Jag & 'Old Man' go hand in hand, so sorted

Scoob99,
Sell her, do the Jag thing, then when you have gotten bored of that in about 9 months time my MY00 UK Classic (with only 29000 on the clock at present - and only likely to be 34000 then) will be up for grabs, and you won't find a better one, I'm pretty confident of that.

I have a MY99 with 23k on the clock, and mint condition....
They are out there, but they ain't gonna be cheap, especially now they're getting rare!!
I'd keep the Scooby unless you like the jag enough to fill the void it'll leave.

Sell it
If you have any regrets you can buy my my97 42K FSH unmolested ****box.
Contrary to popular belief, it actually is a minter compared to many Subarus I've driven, which feel like they've been driven by one too many joyriders

Its a car not a puppy !
I think it is hilarious that some people consider their car a one of a kind, uber mint condition vehicle and that no one could be as sad….I mean as fanatical about a car as they are.
£3k over book for a car that is depreciating on a daily basis and all the more so due to the perceived reputation of the model?
Take it !

I'd definitely sell it at 3k over book. But I definitely wouldn't buy a jag, not with my own money, due to both reliability and depreciation. E39 5 series is a much better investment.

Took me three (expensive) attempts to get out of Scooby Ownership.
It's been nearly 14 months now and I'm still clear.
It is an addiction.
Be warned .
ps the first 6 months are the worst - once you've managed 6 months you should be in the clear
