Well it was actually more about the jolly good idea to give same sex couples the same entitlements as "normal" married couples.
Apprantly some gay men have been together nearly 40 years!

I just recently found out from somebody that works alongside alot of gay men, that there is an unspoken rule in gay male couples, that if they want to go off and sleep with somebody else, they can, and often do. As said above, this is regardless of how long they have been an item. Kind of rubbishes the whole wedding ceremony, if you ask me.
