Lost EVERYTHING off Sky Plus.
Yes every damn programme I'd saved...... all 60 0dd percent of the memory just upped and disappeared last night. Am I ever naffed off. No power cut to blame. No other outside interference. Boy am I mad.
I don't suppose for a minute that I'll get any joy when I try again to phone Sky today .

May be a long shot this but try un-plugging, leaving for a minute then plug back in.
I had similar a few months back and doing the above recovered everything. I'm sure the data will still be on disk mate.

Sky technical support response
"Probably Static"
I wonder how many people accept that BS?
Give me hardwired solid state anyday - software is only good as the programmer, and most employed to do the job are crap At least with hardwire it was tested properly before production

After waiting 35 mins on the phone last night to talk to an engineer, then being talked through several processes, we finally managed to get the bladdy thing back to the re-formatted position.
And yes, we were told it was probably a spike that caused it.
So, how do I get to see the last two episodes of Bleak house, Threshold, and Rome ? Not to mention all the other stuff I was was going to get viewed before the festive season of repeats descends upon us .
At least with the old video system, you knew immediately when things were wrong.
And no, Sky were not in a position to recompense me. IE give me a month's free subs for my inconvenience...... as if they ever were going to anyway.

You have to go into the service menu and do a Programme Planner Rebuild.
It's a hidden menu so you need to know the numbers to push to get in there.
Mine had the same problem, but after the rebuild I had all my free space left and yes the saved programmes were still saved!
Will try and dig out the thread!

Sky are crap...
<rant mode on>
We upgraded to sky+ with multiroom recently. Had to wait two weeks for them to come out to do it. When they arrived they had the wrong box and tried to fob us off with another slot 2 weeks later!
Other half wasn't chuffed so got on the phone to customer services who got the depot manager to phone us to arrange an appointment sooner and told us there was something fishy going on with the boxes as the installation jobs had been contracted out to another company
The manager then called and told us a similar thing had happened later that day, but the engineer had gone to the depot to get the correct box and then went back to the customers house and got it sorted. But we had to wait a few days till the could fit us in!! Wasn't chuffed as I had to cancel plans I had made for that particular Saturday morning!
Didn't get anything for free
Then sky fooked up on Friday just past, could only get BBC one and two. I called customer services. Recorded message said your call will be answered in under 15 minutes. BS. The timer on the phone said 26 minutes! Was told I would need an engineer out and they couldn't come until tuesday. Once I hung up the phone I had a **** about with it myself and managed to fix it!!!! Yet another 20 minutes waiting on the phone to tell them I didn't need a foofing engineer that I had done it myself
Sorry for the rant. needed to get it off my chest....

Whilst I love Sky + and wonder how I managed without it, I'm currently on my 3rd Sky160 box in just over a year.
To be fair to them though the first one was replaced under warranty and the second one has just cost me £65.00 to replace.
Good news though was as they messed me about with appointments and not turning up etc they gave me a new box instead of a refurb.

It really is quite shocking how these Sky+ boxes fail.
It's not complex technology at all. It's just simply a lack of £££'s spent on R&D and testing at Sky HQ (or rather Pace/Amstrad).
The annoying thing is that we have solutions in place which could eradicate all these issues, but need Sky/Amstrad/Pace to buy into them.
It's a uP, a hard drive, and some firmware. Cutting edge it is not.
