Have your say on fuel tax

Have your say on fuel tax
Friends of the Earth are running a poll and you can have your say on a reduction in fuel tax (or increased investment in public transport)
So far the two are running pretty close but you might care to vote as I am sure the green nutters are a bit put out that even visitors to their site are not totally opposed to decreases in fuel tax:

Enjoy.

In true Friends of the Earth fashion their technology fails to function. Maybe the hamster they use to generate the power for their server ran out of sunflower seeds?

I can just imagine the reaction of lentil munchers who arrive to cast their vote only to find that common sense exists even within the hallowed portals of the environmental movement.
It really isn't going well for the greens on many fronts :-)

I've noticed a lot of paranoid looking lentil eaters cycling around the streets this morning. I think they are starting to realise the real meaning of evolution and to see that they've been out-evolved by a highly intelligent species who drive fast cars. It isn't going to be a metorite that drives this mass extinction of dinosaurs: this lot a are going to be wiped out by a push bike, a few lentils, some sandals and a head full of sweetie mice. :-)

Doesn't work very well, the page doesn't have time to load so you only get a couple of submits

Yes, i notice that the page has mysteriously vanished from the FoE site. I wonder why that is then?
Perhaps they are making some "corrections" to the voting patterns? It would be a bit of a shame if the media discovered that FoE "correct" polls on their site to give the "right" answer :-)

Note that on the FoE site you can also send a prepared email to Jacques Barrot calling for tough emissions restrictions on cars. Of course you can edit the text of this email and so the more informed web user may wish to call for other things, like one of these Bugatti things for Christmas :-)

I have just sent the following, but I am sure you can all do better than this:
Climate change is totally unsupported by science and is merely a political tool used by the various so called "environmental" organisations to gain some control over ordinary citizens. It is, to be frank, a lie. Private transport must play its full part in improving the quality of life for the citizens of Europe and with this in mind I would encourage you to remove any and all restrictions upon the current and future development of private transport. Congestion charging, road pricing and allied concepts and technology should be made illegal and all EU governments should be encouraged to rapidly expand their road network for the benefit of all. I am in no way concerned that car
manufacturers look set to miss the 2008 voluntary target agreed with the EU
to cut emissions from new cars and would like to encourage the production of larger and faster vehicles for the benefit of the economy and the right to freedom of choice. I know that you are currently considering
what should happen after 2008, and strongly urge you to agree upon policies that would make the attempts at thought control practised by the various so called "environmental" organisations illegal. I for one have no wish to live in the Stalinist state they aspire to.

This is one poll that we will not be seeing the results of in the Guardian along with some hand wringing article blaming it all on Jeremy Clarkson and telling us that if we don't stop then we will die. However, for every poll that they get a truthful answer to there are others they use to continue to promote their lies and oppression.
Oh, and you can write direct to M. Barrot, the chap they want to introduce nasty restrictions on cars, at this address:
cab-archive-barrot@cec.eu.int
If you write via the FoE page then your email goes to a FoE censor who, for some reason, seems reluctant to forward it to M. Barrot. They like open debate in the environmental movement, as long as it only presents their side of the argument.
