Question National Accident Helpline adverts

Are these adverts for real or what?!!!!

- Woman slips and bangs her knee and gets £5000!

- Guy falls and injures his hip and gets £10700!!!!

I knocked some teeth out with an agle grinder at work 5 years ago and my union were unable to get me any more than £5250!

Plus, how much of the payout did they actually receive!

Count yourself lucky that you have 'Trade union' and that they were there to deal with this. Companies have got away with murder of employees and public and never been claimed against. A Unions Legal team is probably better versed to deal with an 'industrial claim'. However it is also true that Unions have also been as guilty as companies in the 'negligence' dept.

Cool

maybe people should be a bit more careful, observent and responsible for their own actions instead of doing something stupid haveing an accident then claiming thousands in compensation, most accidents could be avoided with a little bit of common sense and spatial awareness.

I was told to cut a lid out on an oil tank, the hole was only just bigger than the gearbox. The grinder got jammed, whilst still spinning and when it was released it shot up into my face.

I was an apprentice at the time and the only protection given to us were goggles.

Most claims are now settled on a predictive costs basis, and no money is taken from any settlement given.
