Sudan.
Dear Sir,
Re: Banking Assistance.
Firstly, I sincerely apologize for breaking into your privacy, however I have decided to contact you through this medium due to the urgency of this proposed business transaction. I got your contact over the Internet during my search for assistance in this mutual beneficial business transaction. I must first solicit your strictest confidentiality in this transaction. This is by virtue of its nature as being utterly CONFIDENTIAL and \ldblquote TOP SECRET\rdblquote Though I know that a transaction of this magnitude will make any one apprehensive and worried, considering the fact that we have not met each other before, but I am assuring you that all will be well at the end of the day.
My names are Col. John Oliseh.of the Ghanaian armed forces. I am the commanding officer of my countries military contigent which is part of the African Union Peace corps sent to Sudan to monitor and protect the Western Darfur people from the genocide of the Janjaweed militias.
I am seeking for your assistance in respect of an event that occured early this month which I believe will be of benefit to you and I. On the 9th of last month, in the course of our routine military patrol of the western darfur region, in the area boardering Darfur and Chad republic, my troops intercepted a group of Janjaweed militia carrying some cache of arms/weapon and funds runnig into millions of dollars.Upon investigation it was discovered that this funds and arms where donations by sum Arab groups who are aiding them in the prosecution and distruction of the Darfur people. We have since concluded our investigation and handed over the weapons and part of the funds we seized from them to appropriate authority while keeping seventeen million united states dollars for our own use after our peace mission in Darfur. This fund has been diplomatically lodged by our food and arm contractor in a safe deposit company on my behalf.
I am requesting you as a matter of trust to assist us clear this fund and help us lodge it legally in your account in your country in TRUST, until I can meet with you to discuss the modality of investing it as well as compensating you for your assistance, we are ready to give you 35% of the fund for your assistance. Note that the decision to keep part of this fund for personal use is because of the fact that we unlike our counterparts in other parts of the world who are on peace keeping mission (like in Iraq and
Afghan) are not well paid or motivated inspite of the grave risk we have to go through.
Since we are mindfull of the great benefit your assistance will be to us, we will be ready to reward you with a 35% percent of the fund. I only plead with you to keep this undertaking as secret as possible to ensure it's success, bearing in mind also that more opportunities can still come out of this relationship. As you well know in war time winner takes all and I belive more fortune still awaits us so long as we remain alife.
Anticipating your profound cooperation,
Yours sincerely,
Col. John Oliseh.
Cheers

35% of $17 million seems a good deal!
I thought the author would already be quite rich though, as his writing style is very similar to a guy who wanted to pay over the odds for a car I was selling in Autotrader recently

Sounds good - tell him to throw in a crate of AK-47's and some hand grenades. You could buy your own island and have your own private militia like Pablo Escobar.
