Im waiting for a Bravia now, an KDLV40A12U, courtesy of my insurance company. It lists at about £2,500 but you can buy it from Empire Direct for a shade under two thousand. I'll let you know what the craic is if I ever get it..... The KDLS40A12U is only about £1,200 btw.

I have a Panasonic 42" plasma and its the dog's Far better than any LCD I've seen!
When viewing in the shops, you should take a step back and view from a realistic distance as you would at home.
Plasma's are usually bigger than LCD's so need to be viewed from further away. LCD's can often look better close up in the shops viewed from 1-2m, but at home you're going to be much further away!
Another thing to bear in mind is to get a HD ready TV. You don't want to pay out for a normal resolution TV now only to find it doesn't support the HDTV format in a year or two's time! May put a decent plasma out of your £2K price range though!

well its for a bedroom and its not a particularly large bedroom. im thinking 43 inch pioneer may be too big and that a 37 ish would be better but only panasonic sem to do them and im not 100 on panosonic tbh

When I bought my plasma, I read somewhere that there are only about 5 manufacturers of Plasma screens.... just did a quick search, have a read of this:
http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/p...makeswhat.html
IIRC, Panasonic and NEC are regarded as the best OEM manufacturers of Plasma screens. You usually have to pay a premium Plasma TVs from non-OEM manufacturers!
As for LCD's, not sure who does what, but I know in the Laptop market, Sony are about as good a you can get with their X-Black screens!

Suggest you have a look at http://avforums.com for some excellent advice on LCD's and plasma's.
If your looking at 37" then IMHO plasma is the way to go, £2K is within easy reach of HD plasma panels/TV's. If you've got a John Lewis near you they may price match internet sites/shops that are close and you get your 5 year guarantee.
Forgot to add Panasonic quote 60,000 hours before the brightness drops below 50%, that's a long time.

On plasma displays, static images will begin to "burn-in," or permanently discolor the pixels displaying it, after only a short time-just 15 minutes or so, in some cases.

For your budget I'd recommend a Panansonic 42PV500 mate.
Go to www.avforums.co.uk - they all rave about them. As do all the independent reviews.
Av forums also list all the places that price match with John Lewis too - very handy.

I have a 37" Panasonic Viera, theyre one of the best plasmas on the market, dont think I'll have Sony over a Panasonic because Sony have a better reputation, yes their LCD maybe good but Sony plasmas are sh!te too..... The Panasonic Viera only lags slightly behind the Pioneers IMO.

Avfroums is the way to go. Read a lot about your choices before purchasing.
I bought a 30" LCD - far too big for the room and **** when watching sport. I sent it back.
As I won't be getting HD for years to come, I'm thinking of CRT - MUCH better quality.
By the time I'm considering HDTV, they'll be much better LCD/Plasma's on the market.

I have a Panasonic TH42 PV500 CAB. It's HD ready and has fantastic picture quality on DVD'S and SKY. I sit 9 feet away from it and don't find the 42 inch screen too large. I saw the same model and screen size as mine in a Panasonic shop some months ago which was showing high definition from some type of computer and the picture quality was the best i've ever seen on any television or screen.
