Talking Finished....my dedicated home cinema room...

for anyone thats interested in this kind of thing, thought you might want to see the pics, start to finish.

Its a dedicated room, that we've planned to use as a cinema since moving in to the house in the summer.

Room stripped down, back to floor boards...

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...eilt/start.jpg

Window had to come out to get sofas in

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...eilt/sofas.jpg

Installed a Sony ceiling mounted projector

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6.../projector.jpg

In comes the gear, Yamaha 6.1 amp, Sony DVD, Xbox, Gamecube, Mission Volare speakers all round

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...lt/finish2.jpg

Fired up for a bit of Sith...

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...t/finished.jpg

Got some furniture to add, inc a new equipment rack, but pretty pleased with the result. Looks & Sounds awesome Best start saving to buy some DVD's now

which sony is it? I have the vpl es2, fantastic isnt it! better than a poxy plasma anyday, and you can replace the bulb when it goes, unlike the plasma.

rooms almost square at just over 5m x 6m so plenty big enough. The Volares give a great soundstage - have tried them facing at various angles, but straight on seems to work best

Is home cinema chav now? either way dont really care.

Stupid question coming but, i am planning on doing this in my new build.
In my house at the moment, in my sitting room i have heavy curtains that i draw to erradicate any sun glare, but if i wanted to go roughly the same route as yourself, do i just do the same thing or is there something you can get that can cover the window ???

i used blackout blinds, which work well in creating a v dark room, even on a bright day. heavy curtains would probably have the same effect.

black out blind and a drop down projector screen? I use a white wall, its just as effective, but thats a big empty space on one wall.

Mission Volares V63 are the front speakers and the Volare V6C for the centre. They are a cracking pair for home cinema, whilst sounding crystal clear and tight bassline with music too. They were a Xmas present from my wife last year

More info on Missions site http://www.mission.co.uk/index1.htm

I went from a Sony speaker setup to these, and the difference was incredible - worth every penny.

Just bought these from USA....

jacko that's actually a oldish picture. the video has gone, replaced by a DVD recorder. the Pace MSS1000ip (bottom left) was used to move my 1.2m dish has now been replaced by a Dreambox and a H2H mount using Diseq commands to move the dish. sky box is now NTL box as most of the encryption systems for the european channels is decoded by the dreambox in emulation. this is a great piece of kit, with a 160GB hard disk and is linked to the PC via router.

So many channels, so little time. sorry for the hijack

Mate go to www.dtsonline.co.uk and see if you can get on thier mailing list for DTS demo disks. i managed it because i run my own computer company. some of the disks are amazing. love to hear what DTS ES sounds like. i only have a 5.1 setup atm. i would need to change the sony amp to get 6.1 or 7.1 sound.
