Renewal now is £42 for 10 years (which is not a big deal is it)...
Or £54.50 for a 48 page passport which I need. Then again, I have two passports so have to pay twice (2 years apart though).
£50 for a 10 year passport seems very fair to me

If you renew early, they will add any remaining unused time (up to a year i think) to the new passport. It's to encourage people not to leave it to the last minute to get their full money's worth, mine is now valid for 10yrs 9months.

went and did it today (fri) and it was a nightmare,
the form i filled in i used blue ink by acc, so i went over it in black,
paid for the (check and send) fees at the PO.
they said they can't take it cos of the blue ink, also that the letters MUST be within the boxes otherwise it can't scan it has to be perfect,
so started to fill 2nd one shaking hand trying to get the letters in the box, I DID A SPELLING mistake LONDONi
so got to do a 3rd one,
at last that was done ok, but with a very shaky hand.
