Do they actually like cheese?

If not where did the myth come from?

It certainly isn't their staple diet which will for most be nuts and seeds. However, dogs and cats like cheese as a treat, so I wouldn't be surprised if mice liked it as well.

Also this says they don't really like cheese, but this says they do but it's bad for them.

When I have to set traps for them, I use a bit of cooked bacon, or chocolate. Works every time.
With cheese, I caught nowt, it just dried up and went even more smelly

Years ago, when I set a mousetrap to catch a mouse in my kitchen they ignored cheese as bait. Then I put a piece of bacon in the trap and within 15 minutes I heard the trap springing.

They're probably a bit like vegitarian humans in that they eat boring food so the smell of a bacon sarnie can tempt them back to meat,

Following some digging, it would seem that mice are omnivores and will eat pretty much anything. Their preferance however, is for cereals and chocolate it would seem. So if you have mice, co-co pops are thing to use in the trap

Hmm i think perhaps they are probably more picky than Rats though. I am sure they really do eat ANYTHING!

Saying that my friend had a load of trouble with his car as he had put it away over the winter. When he came to start it in the spring he was shocked to find that mice had made a nest in his car and chewed all the electrics!!!

I use to have mice and they didn’t like cheese, they did like dolly mixtures though, they would go mad for them.

I get the occasional mouse in the garage and always catch them with chocolate. Most other things they seem to ignore.

I never tried that with my mice. They were quite partial to yoghurt drops though and those sweet grain and wafer treats. They loved them.

Maybe we should start a poll to find out what peoples mice eat

I dont have mice anymore. I have roborovski Hamsters. They are fast as **** and really small

not to sure of the facts but i think it is because the moon is made of cheese... and the clangers seem to like it... no really its from holland where they get little mice to nibble holes in the cheese .. you know just like on tom and jerry...
