counterfeit money detectors
whats the best for detecting fake notes??
one of my staff got stung this morning with a £20
i noticed it as the colour was "off" it has slightly blurry print and a few other faults
the hologram looks a bit gash, the water mark is there but does not look the same as the other £20 notes we have. the serial note number on the right hand side looks like it was printed on epson`s finest
been looking at detector pens, im told the uv light testing machines can be fooled with sum kind of spray over the note?

its only funny until you end up with one of them in your own wallet
i can vouch that much
LMAO @ chip and pin for a carwash
daftest idea of the day, the cars are going into the wash 1 per 60 secs on busy days, chip and pin takes a long time, on my busiest periods were doing 330 cars a day into the carwash

We used to have this problem in some of our shops, do you know the easiest way to stop it? Also works with all scottish and Irish money.
You pay it back to them in there wages (hopefully you still give them a real paypacket on a friday) when we started dishing out the scottish notes as well as the dodgey forgeries in there wage packets amazingly they stopped coming through the till, certainly makes them check them better when they accept them!!!

the best was is to make a slight tare through the water mark a real one will have some tinfoil type material for the water mark, the fake will have nothing, thought there will be a water mark when held upto light. sometime the pens dont work as the counterfitters have the real paper that they make the money with

The only real way to tell is rip it tiny bit were the silver line is if it rips its fake
if it stops at the line its real 100% fool proof
nobody and i mean nobody can put that line inside the note

money is not printed on paper, by definition money is printed on cloth.

The water-mark isnt tin foil ffs; its a water-mark! As Mart says, money is printed on 'paper' with a very high rag content and commercial papers dont really come close.
The give aways are the feel (of the print and the paper) whichs hard to describe, but the 'Bank of England' script will be noticably proud of the paper. Bank notes have the metalised areas applied before printing, so theyll be over-printed whereas forgeries have it applied after printing so they wont ever be printed over. Finally; if you still cant tel.l.... check that the foil strip is present.
Ive seen a fair bit of forged money and I havent ever seen a decent facsimile.....

That may be legally true but what I suggested above will only need to be done once and it will prove the point. Watch how good they become at checking notes when they open any future wage packets, the practice will help them prevent any more coming throught the till! (they will develope eagle eyes!)
You will find with most staff that they don't really care because they will always get there wage packet at the end of the week. Just the "threat" that they will be getting them in there wage packet if any more are accepted should do the job.

I wondered this when I last sold a car (cash) so I checked the BoE website. To be sure you need a UV lamp and a money tester pen, I blagged a pen from on of the till staff at my local DIY superstore by offering to put a quid in the charity tin. I assume they're also available from office supplies shops.
Then print out this for your staff: http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/kyb_lo_res.pdf
And one of these laminated to stick up where it's visible to the customers: http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/poster.pdf
If the customers are aware that you're checking it might make people passing them intentionally go elsewhere.

it had watermarks, very simliar paper, the foil line is in there, only thing to show it as a fake was the silver crest mark on the front had worn off. looks like it had been passed off to MANY places before us.

a well trained member of staff doesnt need any machines or pens, i just pay it back to my workers in their wages like the guy above said, if you dont feel comfortable doing that just dock their wages that will stop them taking them

Some of the forgeries these days are so good even the banks/cash dispensers hand them out cos no-one's noticed. Always found a pen the cheapest way of detecting them.
